Ugh. I need to get this off my chest. My stepfather has a stepdaughter, let's call her Jane. Jane had a baby six months ago. Before this, Jane had a puppy that her great grandmother had to take care of for her, as she won't do it. Jane has no job, hasn't graduated from high school. Jane is now 21. I understand that accidents happen. People get pregnant when they don't mean to, okay. Well, last month her baby, let's call her Sam, was very ill. In the hospital- 104 degree fever- almost dying ill. Apparently she had food poisoning. Don't ask me how an itty bitty baby gets food poisoning, but from what I was told, she reuses baby bottles and the last inch or so of formula.
Baby Sam now lives with her granddaddy, and Jane goes to visit her baby daily, but she doesn't want to take care of her. She seriously wanted my mom to take baby Sam for her. Like, legally adopt her.
When Jane first had Sam, she wanted to have another immediately, but she quickly realized she did not like having a baby. She screams at her child, swears at her, and all around dislikes the responsibility.
Well, guess who is pregnant again. You got it. Jane. I cannot stand it. I was utterly disgusted when she had her first, seeing as how she is so irresponsible, jobless, and uncaring... but the fact that little Sam is only 6 months, and all ready she got pregnant again? UGH! Two accidents don't happen, you should learn from the first. It is disgusting to me that there are people out there that would do ANYTHING for a baby to love, and she is having them and all but throwing them away...
It just makes me so angry at her. Not only that, but she is shocked and angry that her mom's family are very angry at her for this. Everyone else is paying for and raising Sam for her, of course they are angry she is pregnant again. I really, really wish that someone could make her see what she is doing, and help those poor kids. Ugh. I had to get that off my chest.

THIS illustrates why I wish we could TNR humans.

I don't blame you a bit - I'd be just as furious.

I agree 100%! I have a cousin who is the same way. She sits around on welfare and is pregnant with her 3rd baby, all with different fathers.

Yep... it's ridiculous. I wish they could suspend our baby making abilities until we prove our selves later in life. Then, only deserving people could have babies.

My future sister in law is actually just like her... she has two babies, from two dads. She at least cares for her own kids (now) and has turned around a lot since her second was born. She got a job, rented a trailer, etc. I am proud of her ... I don't see this one doing the same.

I agree!

Hubby thinks some people need to pass tests and receive licenses to have children, with the amount who so carelessly continue to have unwanted babies and toss them off on the closest person to them. I agree with him, and also think that we could TNR some people.

My former best friend has two with two different fathers and has previously bragged to me about how the government pays for her kids, then complains about how rough her life is now, having two at 23. Another person I know admitted to having children for tax breaks and returns, yet has spread them over other people to take care of (she was up to 7, before the family demanded she be fixed!). My cousin, who's 32, constantly drops her 2 yr old kid off with her mom, or posts on FB she hopes her mom will take the kid for the weekend so she can go party and live like a single girl. I despise such people who have no sense of responsibility and are utterly careless.

My fiance has a wonderful TNR plan- go to jail, and get snipped. I bet there would be a LOT fewer kids out there.

And then there are adults who are responsible and loving, and who would be wonderful parents and they cannot have a child. And healthy people who give up on life, and very sick people who struggle through the pain just to continue living another day. Sometimes life really sucks. Poor Sam and poor little new baby... all they need is one caring adult in their lives to have a chance at a happy future.

I believe people should take IQ tests and take classes, then tests, much like driver's ed and training and DMV tests.... in order to have pets or kids.

One of my coworkers, while pregnant with her second child, decided that was it. She had a C-section and had them tie her tubes after the birth...

I wonder if there's a way to have this 'child' declared an unfit mother... hmmmmm....

Why doesn't she put the poor baby up for adoption? My goodness, someone needs to talk her into it! That poor baby!

I really wish someone would. My mom would LOVE to take them- both of them, but she is ill often, and knows that still wouldn't be best for the babies. I only hope that she learns her lesson THIS time...

VERY true! I work with and am friends with a wonderful, caring, supportive woman. She & her hubby have been trying for years now to have children and have been unsuccessful.
I have let her cry on my shoulder and I have shared in her grief because I KNOW she would make such an awesome Mom. It breaks my heart, especially when so many idiots are out there having kids who shouldn't.

Jane needs to be fixed. Has anyone thought of calling child welfare services? It sounds as if Jane has basically abandoned Sam; maybe she could be put in a foster home for the time being. And another little one on the way---it makes me sick. Those 2 little ones don't stand a chance unless someone steps in and does something.

I doubt anyone up there would call on them, except perhaps my mom. Sam is being cared for- just not by her mother. I have only seen/heard this from family, as I am on the other end of the country. I wish I was there and seeing it though, so that I could take steps to help her baby.

This makes me so sad I want children and seem unable to have them and then you have people who do not want them and they pop them out like its nothing. I know a girl who has 5 kids and she is 24 and she just has them and sits on welfare and it makes me so mad.

I agree completely, I also know someone like this, they have had six kids and are having more, they just want money. Many are to the same father, two or so are to different fathers. It just disgusts me that people do this, the father abuses the children. It's terrible!

If I found I was ultra fertile, but didn't want kids- I would totally offer myself for surrogacy. Can you imagine how many people you could make happy that way?
