In my apt. complex I've seen at least three different stray cats. One isn't really stray I guess, my neighbor found her in Georgia before moving here and brought her along. She says she's working on turning her into an only indoor kitty since she'll be moving to the front of the complex soon and is worried about her getting hit.

The one above is pretty tame. I find her on my porch a lot and I'll sit out and give her cuddles and sometimes some cat treats. Tonight I put out a bowl of turkey and she gulfed that down like she was starving. Guess I'll start leaving a bowl out for her. Now, supposedly she had a litter when she was found. This startles me because this cat is TINY. Not just ridiculously thin, all around itty bitty. I'll probably start leaving out some kitten chow for her to see if that'll help put some weight on her. I'm just hoping my neighbor either gets her inside or gets her spayed before one of the neighborhood boys gets a hold of her. I'm not sure she could survive another litter.

One other stray, this GORGEOUS white and orange cat, comes and goes. He/She (haven't been able to tell just yet) was outside my apt. when I got home from work. So I sat down to see if I could get him/her to come to me. She/He came up, sniffed my hand, then walked a little ways away. Hopefully I'll have a chance to work with this one and maybe find him/her a home.

The last stray, a female calico (again, GORGEOUS) won't come anywhere near me. I have no idea where they are all hiding when I don't see them. It's not a big neighborhood at all, and there isn't much around here. The orange and white one looks pretty well fed, but the calico is kinda scrawny.

I know from past apt. complexes, most of the strays hung around the dumpster. Do you think that would be a start at finding them? Maybe lay a few bowls behind it and hope my apt. manager doesn't notice? Hopefully someday I'll be able to get these beauties to trust me so I can catch them and find them new homes. I've done it in the past where I used to live and those places were COVERED with strays and ferals. This spot only has a few, and most come and go.

On my next day off I'll see if I can find where they are all staying when not out roaming. In the mean time, here's a few pics of the scrawny one:

Oh, and some shots of the stray at work. A woman that works in the mall feeds her every morning and is now finally able to pet her. She's working on catching her and either taking her home or finding another home for her

Tx for telling us your story!

A nice example of good everyday rescuing!

Notice this old rule of thumb: dont just feed them - if you do, you should also have a plan behind this = adoption and or TNR. Which you are doing.

Im thinking now about this nr 1. You are right. If she is fertile, then she will get pregnant. Not if but when. And when is sooner more probably then later.
So something should be done yes.

She is supposed to be your neigbours outside pet "working on getting her inside". HOW is your neigbour working on it? (Does shehe at least give this cat food??)
At this moment she is surely ripe to be taken in. If it is yours work or your neigbours, I dont know...
So what is this neighbour waiting for??
Or in plain swedeenglish: Is this neigbour fooling you around telling beautiful stories, or is shehe just ignorant??
If ignorant, please have a couple of long chats with himher: it is time now, etc.
If fooling: Take charge. Even if in a way she has an owner, but she is de facto a homeless. And you providing her food, are de facto an owner. This is apparently not your first protegÃ[emoji]169[/emoji] - so you if somebody know what to do.

Tx a lot!

Good luck!

Thanks! Whoops, looks like I need to redo the pics. Guess I moved them all lol.

She's trying to bring her inside and get her fixed but the cat is just going nuts I guess. I'll ask her more about her plans next time.

She says she's feeding her, which I don't doubt because the cat mainly hangs on her front porch. Don't know if she's just not eating enough or what. I'll ask.

I know my boy is getting fixed either this week or next week. Poor guy is not going to be very happy with me taking his manhood from him but he'll forgive me I'm sure lol

I think I'll continue leaving a bowl of food out on my front porch, and some fresh water. Maybe I'll catch one of the others out there. I'll also start looking into cat rescues in the area, see if they may be able to help catch them and/or find them homes. I'll ask my vet about any he would suggest once I see him.

I'll keep you updated on this

EDIT: Seems I can't edit my original post, so I'll just put the pics here.
