Say hello to Queen Eva.

I met Queen Eva for the first time four weeks ago when she was about four weeks old and very very tiny. The place she was at had named her "Lucky" (because she is polydactyl) but that is not her name, though she can indeed be considered lucky, to have some luck I mean, since she is in her furever home with me, Tolly Mazy and Jennie.

She can't get any luckier than that!

When our eyes met that first time, we bonded instantly and she told me her name is Eva.

While she was not being abused, she was not being very well cared for and I longed to take her home. I saw her briefly two other times and she just wasn't thriving. It was clear they didn't understand her and called her stand-offish, unfriendly and "hates to be held or touched".

Well my dream came true and I picked her up early yesterday morning. It was a long drive, and she pooped in the carrier, and vomited, but we both survived it. We were hardly out of the driveway of that house before she informed me haughtily that she is QUEEN Eva, not just Eva.

Now Queen Eva has been here since 9:15 this morning, and she is sweet, affectionate, loving, friendly, talky, I am just hopelessly in love with her. Imagine, those people said she is unfriendly and mean! Well she was to them I guess because they weren't ME.

Here's my new little girl.

Oh my gosh, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Both to you, AND to Queen Eva, who is a very lucky girl, and could not have ended up with a better mama. It gives me such a "warm-fuzzy" feeling to know that you're giving this little gal her very own happily-ever-after.

And of course, I must add that she is utterly gorgeous! I expect lots of pics!!!

Thank you! I have never had a black cat before. I've had sweet black and white tuxedo kitties but never "all" black. She isn't all black though, she has a white crescent on her lower abdomen..some white threads on the tip of her tail, and a few white threads on her chest

I believe those white hairs are called Angel Kisses. Do you know the story behind that?

Thank you! It's the strangest thing, the cats have shown absolutely no curiosity at all. None. They know she's in there of course, but apparently it's perfectly normal.

Thank you! I love her so much.

She had an eventful day, spent at the vet. SNAP test, first distemper booster, a Capstar and a Droncit. She has flea tapeworms and roundworms. I am to start her on the Revolution tomorrow if she seems well enough, or wait until Wednesday if she is still under the weather from all the meds and shot today.

She's worn out tonight, but since the fleas are all gone now from the capstar I gave her a stuffed animal to curl up with.

Oh! FeLV/FIV negative.

She is so sweet. She curls up on my lap and gazes soulfully and adoringly into my eyes and reaches up to pat my face.

The comment about how she loves you plus the pic of her curled up with her bunny brought a tear to my eye. So sweet.

I'm sure I read it somewhere on this site, but the story as I remember it is that all black cats used to be burned at the stake along with their "witch" owners, so cats inherently started growing a few white hairs for safety reasons, because just one white hair would mean they weren't "devil worshippers" and could save their lives. Thus, they were "kissed" by Angels. Today there are very few cats that don't one one or two white hairs on them. In Queen Eva's case, (and Stinkpot's case), since they have a white patch on their tummies, we like to say the Angel's got carried away and gave them a French Kiss
