I have just recently completed converting the last of my vinyls, tape cassettes and CDs to MP3s. What will be the next thing I have to convert to? But while considering this question, I remembered something in a box in my office closet. Yep, there they were: My Prized Eight-Tracks! OK, tell the truth now. 1000 points to the first five people that admit they remember them (not your grandparents telling you about them) and 5,000 points to the first person that says they actually still have at least one.
(You are on your honor here).

I get 1,000 points. I don't still have any but I did own a few.

You can convert them to MP3. I'll have to learn to do that. I just got my first MP3 player a few months ago.

I was so proud when I installed an Eight Track player in my first car, a 1974 Chevy Nova. Alas, I've gotten rid of all of my 8-track tapes over the years. I think my sister still has hers, along with a working Eight Track stereo system.

But did you have a reel-to-reel player?

I've yet to convert my vinyl to MP3, but that's on my to-do list.

(I don't need the points - you want more to give away?)

I don't own any but I sooooo remember when I was 8 my mom took me to see Grease, my first theater movie. We both loved it and she would always play the eight track sound track in her 1970's Toyota Celica, remember it like my first kitten!

Yes, I remember it well. It was my present to myself when I got out of the USN. A Panasonic reel-to-reel. I found out how to convert everything else using WikiHow, but I sure do not still have an 8-track player laying around.

Nope, not looking for any points, I'm the guy that has been trying to get rid of his points for over three years starting with KatKwiz. Hopefully that is a little easier to remember than eight tracks...

I definitely didn't own a reel to reel, or an eight track for that matter, but my grandmother had a room full of reel to reels, a couple projectors, and other what would be eventually outdated things next to the entertainment room.....

I remember them clearly. Who can forget the "clunk" happening 3 times during "Innagodadavida?"

I remember them. I traded a guitar I never learned how to play for an 8 track player once. I don't have either player or tapes anymore.

and will be sent their points in the morning. But WHO still actually besides this old guy, still have an actual tape for 5000 points? And now as an added feature, 10,000 points to the first person that has in their possession an eight track player. BTW, just to make it interesting, I am also giving 1000 points to the first five that admit to still having Beta tapes (as opposed to VHS) and 5000 points to the first person who still has a Beta tape recorder/player.

I realize I am being totally unfair to the mostly younger generation on this site and will make amends later. That's just the way we old guys are.

Oh yes, I remember all of this, the eight track player, that is. I saved some eight tracks for a long time that were music my sweetie recorded for me before we got married. There were songs like Send in the Clowns, Unchained Melody and lots of other romantic ones. They may be stored in a box in hubbys boat building now. But the player quit so can't listen anymore. We are old, aren't we.

I have a Beta player and tapes. Want a picture for me to prove it?

OMG - Now THAT is a blast from the past memory!!

I still have my innagodadavida album. The dogs chewed the cover up a little bit, but the record still plays. 1000 points to anyone admitting to doing the drum solo from this song on your or your SO's stomach......

I still have one 8-track tape, CCR Cosmos Factory. What's worse, I found a pile of 78RPM records here, the hard wax ones that would bust if dropped, and I remember them being played when I was a kid.

........wanders off singing:
Oh I don't want her, you can have her, she's too fat for me..............

now name that tune!!!LOL

Would I doubt somebody who slept in my guest room?

OK, still looking for an eight track player owner. And Beta tape owners.

In the morning, gotta take DW out to eat.

Since we are telling our age here and talking about this old stuff, I would like to add this. I have a stand-up Columbia Grafanola. It plays 78 records, and I have a large collection of them, probably close to a hundred. For those of you who don't know what this is, it is a wind up record player. After each record plays, the needle has to be changed. Anyone else have one of these?

Never owned an 8-track tape. Our family did have probably the largest commercially available player. A 1980 Crown Vic station wagon.

I recently got rid of my records but still have a lot of my cassettes and some of them were copies of my albums. I also have the boom box my Dad bought back about 1986.
