Just thought I'd share with you a glorious day that I spent with hubby near the sea.
We drove about 4 hours away from home to spend the night near the sea. We stayed in a small pub and planned to do a walk of about 13 miles. It's a walk up a large hill (called a Down
), walk along the top overlooking the sea and a beautiful beach to a village, then back along the beach to the starting point.
Nothing quite prepared us for how beautiful it was, we were surrounded by wild flowers (including orchids); wild horses on the downs; no man made sounds; the beautiful scent of the flowers and skylarks singing above us - it was fabulous. Here are some piccies:
This one is looking back in the direction of our starting point
Looking through the foxgloves towards our destination
The village that we were walking to
These gorgeous creatures live wild on the moor/marshland, they are the Wild Marsh Ponies - the males were a fabulous site galloping down the side of the hill, neighing with their wild manes flying behind them
One of those buildings perched on the edge of the cliff is a little pub that we sat in to have a much needed drink. Well, actually we sat in the pub garden with the most fabulous view......here it is
after sitting in the pub we carried on a little further towards the rocky outcrop at the end of the village
and a very special little shop/art gallery that we called into
Now if only I could send you the gorgeous scents of the flowers and hay too
