Do you prepare your own packed lunch or you just buy your food at your company's canteen?

Hello

I usually waste money and by lunch at the expensive coveince store next to where I work.

But I am going to start preparing my own to save money and make it healthier for myself.

Tomorrow I will have a sandwich french fry crisps (84calories a bag) and a yogurt or bit of fruit. Instead of paying a 5er for a unhealthy sandwich crisps chocolate yogurt and full fat fizz ...

When I worked I used to take my own packed lunch most of the time, it was easier and cheaper.x

I only ever eat low fat or non fat yogurt or a small container of fruit for lunch, so I throw that into a small container. I would never pay for lunch every day; DH and I did that for awhile, until we realized how much money we were wasting. Sometimes we'll all get together in the office and spring for a pizza or something, but that's rare.

I come home for lunch now, but when I did have to eat while out, I always brought my lunch. I never cared for eating out for lunch, or buying it.

I usually brought a protien (hunk of chicken, small can of tuna, piece of ham steak, cold cooked cheeseburger, cheese and whole wheat crackers, etc) a carrot (peeled) and an apple. Sometimes if I was out of ideas or poor, I brought cereal and a small container of milk, and a carrot and an apple.

At home I mostly make up my own version of a high protein shake, with organic non fat plain yogurt, organic non fat probiotic milk, a handful of strawberries, and 1/2 cup of oats, tossed in the blender. 23 g protein, 70% daily calcium, 11 g fiber.

If you have a microwave at work you can always do the left overs from yesterdays dinner
.

Also cheaper alternatives (if u like them and can get them on offer) is cheap tins of stuff like ravioli or mac and cheese (check ingredients) and some of them are actually free from a lot of the bad stuff and low in fat and salt , depends on brands.

DH does that. He'll take leftover spaghetti, lasagna with a slice of homemade bread, leftover soup or chili with a muffin or some cornbread, salad, slices of roast chicken, etc. He'll sometimes take slices of a roast or steak, some greens, slices of red onion, a tortilla, and some salsa and shredded cheeses, and he'll make a wrap at lunchtime. If he can heat it in the microwave, that's fine, but if not, he'll eat it cold. The other guys at work sometimes say that DH eats a better lunch then they do a dinner!

Every now and again we'll buy our lunch as a treat, but we usually pack our own lunch. My bf and I work in the same place, so it's pretty convenient.

Im pretty bad with lunches...I used to bring one most days, but now most days I buy something or skip lunch all together. I was actually talking last week how its about time I get back on the lunch bringing bandwagon, because even $4 a day adds up (which is what I pay for a soup combo). Also, there are soooo many good fruits etc available right now that bringing a lunch will be even easier (or so I hope)...I dont usually have leftovers to bring and am not a sandwich eater, so am looking for lunch ideas! send em my way

Before I retired I always brought my lunch to work from home. On Fridays a group of us went out to lunch but that was it.

I pack lunch usually and go out for fast food sometimes. Company doesn't have a cafeteria so that's not an option.

I've stopped eating lunch since my stomach has been so weird, I always seem to feel discomfort, pain, or some other digestive issue if I eat breakfast lunch and dinner, but if I eat one meal per day I am completely fine

I usually eat a banana at lunch as a snack so I don't feel as though I'm starving

I usually head to the mall behind my job to get some lunch, because I often forget to bring anything from home. I'm not a sandwich type, or leftovers type. I wish my company had a lunch room/canteen like my mom's old job did. It was awesome, I'd probably spend a lot of money eating there though

I don't work in a place with a cafeteria, so I pack a lunch. Even if I could buy my lunch, I wouldn't because it's so much more expensive. We have a microwave, so sometimes I'll heat up a cup of soup or leftovers. Once in a blue moon, me and some fellow co-workers will go out to eat, but very rarely.

I pack Bfs lunch...I dont work so I just take care of him. I usually pack him enough to get him thru a really long day since he never knows when he is going to get off work. A sandwich, fruit cup, 2 cereal bars and 2 bags of chips. He works construction or in the farm vehicle shop so there is no grocery stores or gas stations near by for him to get food from and he doesnt drive so he couldnt get lunch there unless it was delivered or he could walk.

I thought about bringing spaghetti, but I'm afraid that it might spoiled up.

I'm looking for healthy and easy to prepare meals

I am jobless at the moment, but I have always brought my lunch. At the moment I pack for my fiance. He is a corrections officer, so he works for 12 hours at a time. Usually I will make several meals just for his lunches. I'll spend a day and make a lasagna, homemade mac n cheese, soup, etc, and freeze it all in single serving packages. Then, he always has something yummy to take to lunch, with some string cheese, a salad, fruit or whatever he feels like bringing with it. He always makes the inmates and other officers jealous- makes me happy!
