Hi
We are new here and we kind of freaked out and posted a concern before we even came to introduce ourselves here to the site

SO let's get us on here

We found tiny Kittee in our wheelbarrow in the garage in the early morning a week ago.

(the story is here and long so if you want to skip go to end of story
)

BEGIN STORY
The night before my husband was walking into the garage and was surprised to see the neighborhood cat in our garage. We see her around a lot but never has she come into our garage. He shoo'd the cat away because he was closing the garage door for the night, and we have 3 doggies that live with us.
When my children and I woke the next morning, we were getting ready to walk our dogs and when we headed out to the garage we heard mewing.
My daughter heard it first and initially we thought it was outside the garage window.
But the longer we listened, we knew a kitty was IN the garage.

We began to follow the mewing and sure enough in the back corner of our garage, in our wheelbarrow full of drop cloths (my husband does interior painting on the side) there was tiny Kittee

Long story short we called our vet and the vet encouraged us to put kitty back and wait for mama to come. We did this periodically thu the day and then left her there for 3 hours in the night and Mama never came.
We were having storms that weekend, and we have yet to see this mama kitty around.
We were seeing her daily until this night.
Now we no longer see her AT ALL

SO we took Kittee in and have been nursing her and loving her everyday since.
Using Kitty Glop we found here at Catsite! THANK YOU! Our vet loved it too!
END of STORY

Took her to the vet.
Vet says she is a girl and she weighs 5oz-is about 3 weeks old- no bugs on her. Gave us wormer and said come back in a month if we want to keep her.
We are naming her Kittee as we are kinda fostering to own at this point as like we mentioned earlier we have 3 fur kids that are doggies and we are not sure how this will work out.
AND not to mention my husband has a cat allergy so we are also worried about this.
But we AND my husband, want to care for Kittee until she is able to go potty herself and feed herself.
We would feel terrible to adopt her on this tiny.
Vet said to maybe make her an outside cat, but not sure if we have the heart to do that.
My sister in law said they may be able to take her too, but she does not want Kittee either at this young(she works outside the home and has three kids).
SO we will see.
I am secretly hoping that all will be will with our dogs (we are being SUPER SAFE/TAKING PRECAUTIONS do not worry).
I have NO idea how to introduce dogs and cats but I think our dogs are already getting introduced by Kittee just being in the house and seeing us hold her/feed her ectera.
Fingers crossed!!

Hi and tiny kittee says thank you for caring
I don't know how to introduce dogs to cats but with cat-to-cat introductions there are scent tricks that you can do. Not sure if those same tricks work with dog-to-cat ...

We're here to help you - You sound like wonderful people. I wonder where the kitty mom is :\\ Tiny kittee sounds tiny

we wonder too where mama went... ???

Maybe it was all meant to be and mama knew we would care for her baby.
Maybe she was casing our home to see if we were nice humans those times we saw her walking down the street or in neighbors yards....hhhmm

Goldy Cat
I just took a few pictures she is really coming around now and not sleeping the entire day way

Thanks for the link here for introducing dogs and cats..this site is a GOLD MINE of info...so happy to have found it!
I understand all things dog and I am the pack leader in the home.
This really has some good pointers for us to use. I had thought of a few actually already listed there so it is good reference and reassurance that I am on the right track.

Thanks Flisssweetpea

Ok let me go see if I can get photos here....

Welcome, welcome to TCS. We're glad you found us here! And, you're right, this site is a veritable source of information for all things cats (and other things as well). It's really a great place!

Kittee is absolutely darling
. How cute is she?! I love blue kitties and kittens are always sure to get me oohing and aahing. Thank you for being willing to take Kittee in and for all that you're doing for her. I, too, hope that everything will work out and that Kittee will be able to stay with you for the long haul, but even if she is adopted out, I'm sure you will be able to find her the perfect, forever, loving home. As cute as she is, it shouldn't be a problem at all!

Again, welcome. I hope to continue to see you and Kittee around. And, please, more pictures of that little cutie patootie! And, give her a little scritch for me too...

Many dogs actually turn into nurturers when presented with an orphan kitten.

Has your husband shown any allergies so far? Many many MANY people who have allergies to cat dander live with cats, there are plenty of ways to get around it, we can help you with that.

Without (hopefully) making you feel the need to defend your vet, I do not think much of a vet who would advise someone to make a tiny kitten, once raised, an "outside" cat. Cats are much safer healthier inside.

I agree the mama cat brought the kitten to you, for a reason. Perhaps it wasn't safe where she had the tiny baby before. You might kind of suggest to your neighbors that they have their cat spayed, or you may be rescuing more kittens than you bargained for

Welcome to TCS and THANK YOU for rescuing this tiny baby. You are real Heroes.

In the official cat breeders' world there are no "gray" cats. "Blue" is the dilute of black.

ahhh OK I see thanks Goldycat for the scoop on Blue..very cool!

thanks iluvdevons!

otto..
you know what?
we fully believe if you see it the way you want it it can/will be.

I love that you mentioned that some dogs turn to nurturers with a kitten.
I am going to see that with our dogs live it- feel it- breathe it- and let it be the feeling in the home.
Our dogs sit patiently at my feet while I nurse her hoping for a few drops of her glop.
I give them some when I am done and it really seems to help them feel included, since we do not let them do anything except sniff her blankets or wipe cloths without her on them of course
They are VERY curious at any rate. They worry when she is mewing and follow me around with ears perked until she hushes. She sleeps in the bedroom with all of us..dogs in kennels humans in bed and she in her rubber maid tub (no lid and lots of blankets and a big stuffed kitty from my daughter) on top of one of my furkids kennels.

Hubby has shown NO allergies at all.

He is sticking his face in Kittee's fur to and lovin'
her as much as myself and my kids. Now maybe this is b.c she is a wee kit not a full grown kat...but at any rate.... I am also visualizing no allergies for him and have on paper wrote it down and frozen it in my freezer too (heard that works on things you need to go away-so I am trying everything!)
\t

Yeah we told the vet NO WAY that we would feel weird about that as we would never make any of our doggies *outside* dogs..KWIM?
I think the vet was just trying to help us with ways of keeping Kittee after all this work we are doing\t

We have NO IDEA who mama cat belongs too.
There are a few cats the roam and we knwo a neighbor *feeds* them on occasion but this neighbor and I do not get along(dog issues with his dog and ours).
Anyway thanks for the warm welcome and kind words

She is beautiful! My little girl is grey (blue) too - I hope all continues to go well - and I think momma cat knew she had found a house full of love for her baby.

Keep in mind that it is not the cat itself that causes allergies, usually, but rather the "dander" on its fur from cleaning itself. A kitten that small is probably not bathing itself much, so there's not much dander to cause trouble.

One way to combat the dander is to wipe down the cat regularly with a clean wet washcloth. Others here can tell your more ways to deal with it.

I can see why you called it "tiny kittee." It is!
