I am a new cat mother to Puma and now Hazel(the recent trapped in the wall kitty). Puma was a feral/stray that has moved in with us and seem to be an old kitty. Today she started acting crazy, she started running up and down the house like a race horse(scaring the dickens out of Hazel) from the litter box. Then she calmed down for a bit, next she hops in my bed and kneads the sheets and meows, so I come a running to see what is wrong, then she hops out and goes to the bathroom and jumps in the tub where I have another litter box that I use for my pedicures(I know weird...) and kneads, sniff, meows and squats and pees a bit in the tub. She was doing this for quite some time.

***One a side note Puma is sometimes jealous of Hazel and get pissed

So I call the vet my friend recommends me to,will be making my first visit with her tomorrow possible bloody and bruised.

What could be making her act like this?

And what can I do to get her in her kennel tomorrow without being ripped to shreds.

Thanks in advance for the advice and help

Geez... it could possibly be a urinary tract infection. I know when my kitty has one he goes from one litter box to the other jumping in and out of each. Also, when they are acting out of the norm, could be trying to tell you something. Just what remains to be seen

Not sure about the kennel... I've been lucky that all my cats have been pretty docile. Maybe somebody else has some tips.

The best advise I can give is that I used to have a problem with sassy. She would bite and scratch so what I did is a I got some of those good grilling gloves that are really thick and go to your elbows. Use those when you get her into the carrier. This way if she scratches or bites you'll be protected.

I'd leave the carrier out now, so she gets used to it - maybe toss a few treats in there. Then, when the time comes, friends have told me if you can get the carrier and the cat in one small room, hopefully with nothing they can scoot under, close the door, put the carrier on its end and then pick up kitty and sort of drop her, gently, into the carrier and quickly quickly close the carrier. I actually practiced with my sherpa bag to make sure it zipped quickly.

I like the idea of the gloves, too.

The good news is that cats invariably race back into the carrier once the vet is done with the exam. Why they can't do that at home?

Good luck!

Well, Puma seemed to be getting worse, she was growling, hissing, and purring from pain. So I grabbed her by the scruff wrapped her in a towel and placed her feet first in the carrier, and zipped it up with the help of an extra hand. Off to the nearest vet we went, mew and crying to be let out along the way.

Well we get there and the vet checks her out, being a stray and not knowing how she would react to new ppl. She was calm and not too bad. We found out she may have a UTI and she gave us antibiotics(which I frown upon due to the side effects, but if it makes her better then....) We will get the results from her labs later. Now she is in the house resting quitely and she finally had a nice potty.

MizmelzyMFCCA- Good idea about the gloves, gotta try that one next time.

Darlili- She's too smart to fall for the treats, I put catnip in the carrier and she would not go in, and she's a nip head.

I'm hoping that her bout is nothing but a UTI and not anything worse.
Well the islandkitty needs to rest herself it has been a long stressful day, Please send some postive for Pummie, she needs them now. Thank you guys for all of your support and advice.
