This all happened so fast.. On monday I didn't know this was going to be it. Casper was put to sleep today because of several tumors found from his stomach.
He would have turned 3 years old this month. He was acting like a healthy kitty, but the fluid build up in his stomach let us know that something was wrong.
He was supposed to be the sire of my first litter later this year.. No pretty kittens from Casper now.

As I've mentioned before, Casper moved in with my friend. She had lost her previous cat earlier, he was pts also before he was even 3. I feel so helpless, I don't know what to do or say to her because I'm so shocked and heart broken myself.

RIP Casper..

I am so sorry for the loss of your Casper. He was a very handsome boy. Try to take some comfort in the fact he did not linger in pain. Just went to sleep.

Many hugs to you. He knew he was special to you and your friend.

RIP and God bless sweet Casper, the
cat.

It is so shocking when it happens so quickly like that. I am really so sorry, he was so young.

Thank you all for your condolences.

I informed Casper's breeder about what happened and she told me she had just lost a cat month ago exactly how happened to Casper, it was his full sister! Casper's sister had pancreatic cancer which had spread everywhere. Symptoms were identical to Casper and it also happened very fast.
I'm sure this was the case here too.

I'm very sorry of your loss of your beloved Casper.

Seems the cancer is a genetic trait. I hope the breeder has kept good records to narrow this down, to not spread the gene further.

Your boy was very loved and cherished and will wait for you to be reunited with him some day.

Yeah, it seems pretty obvious this isn't a coincidence. We are going to go through both cats' autopsy results when I get them. Casper's sister had one litter, so now all those cats are going to be under a close surveillance and neutered/spayed (I believe one or two of the kittens are in breeding programs, not sure if they've had any litters yet). This was the first cancer case which came up in these lines as far as the breeder knows. I hope these also will be the last.

'Luckily' I didn't mate my female with Casper, it was planned to happen at the end of this year. Casper was the only unneutered colorpoint BSH over here so now my plans are going to be totally different. He was gorgeous and so sweet.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I am so sorry, sweetie. It happened so fast - it's probably easier on the kitties this way, but it's harder on those who love them.

Play happily over the bridge with your sister, Casper. Be in peace.

Thanks everyone. I just heard that it's going to take approx. 4 weeks to get the autopsy results. Time seems very different now.. It stands still. Like calm before the storm.

Thanks everyone.

I didn't only loose a special kitty, I also lost my breeding plans.. and now I should figure out what to do. I imported a female from Germany so I could have a suitable 'girlfriend' for Casper and now he is gone.
It's very hard to try to make any plans right now, but the female wont be a kitten forever.. (She's 10months old now). Aaargh..
