I currently have a microfiber couch that's only 2 years old and I'm already looking to replace it due to 3main reasons- Here's a picture of the sofa I got from RC Willey website so you can get an idea of what it looks like. *NOTE: this is not a picture of MY couch but a couch SIMILAR to mine.

The pillows are all squished and out of shape (not attached to the back) due to cats sleeping on it so I feel very uncomfortable on it if I try to sit or lay on it. As of now, if people look at the pillows on my couch, they will see a big sag in middle of pillows since cats sleeps on the top.

The color (red) shows fur real easy.

I also want a couch with a chaise instead of a couch with an ottoman since I keep having to pull the ottoman up to the couch before I could get semi-comfortable.

I have been shopping around and here's some options I have found. I'd love to get your opinions about these.

I think the color is neutral and hopefully will show less fur but I will still need to vaccuum regularly. The back cushions are ATTACHED to the back so that means they shouldn't get all squished and out of shape.
#1-

I've NEVER had leather furniture so I have no idea but I think it'll be a lot easier to clean- just blow fur off! One concern is about scratches since all SIX of my cats have their claws... Cushions are attached to the back.
#2-

another leather couch...Cushions are attached to the back.
#3-

What do you guys think?? Which would be best based on your experiences?

We had a leather chair - claws can scratch leather (in my case, one of the dogs ripped up the chair seat with her back claws vaulting out of the chair). We currently have a microfiber loveseat & couch....in the same neutral color of #1. It doesn't have the pillows like in the pictures. It has built in recliners.

I bought a couch with the cushioned backs. they are attached. the kitties have ruined it by sleeping on them.
They are squished out of shape and no longer looks nice , they aren't comfortable either.

OUCH about one of your dogs ripping up the leather seat.

Thanks for the info.

It's nice to have leather because fur doesn't stick to it and dirty paw prints don't make marks all over it. It does gets scratched up pretty easily. My cats and puppy have scratched my couch up pretty bad and I have only had it since the end of last summer.

Thankfully our couch was free so its not a huge deal for us.

This info is very helpful to me also. Thanks.

This couch is a little less than 2 years old. I have had to reattach the cushions in several places

This really helps!!

I am starting to lean more toward a couch that have many pillows. I think that'd be the best way to go. That was my previous couch before the current one and I LOVED it and cats didn't sleep on the top very much.. The challenge is to find one with a chaise and in a neutral color that I like at a reasonable price. Keeping fingers crossed!

Only reason I HAD to get rid of that old couch was because a cat peed and pooped on it while I was gone and by the time I got back, there was no way to rescue it from the SMELL.. Put it out on the street and no one would take it. LOL. That's how bad it was.

I would love to replace mine but I paid $1200 for this set and it is ruined in less than 2 years. DH isn't too keen on buying another one.

That's a PRO of being single- I don't have to answer to anyone about my purchases.

Personally, I've never liked leather. Pets aside, it may look nice but it's always uncomfortable. I either stick to it or slide right off - or a rather unpleasant mix of both in the summer.

I prefer couches with formed/attached backs or foam type pillows. They're not as squishy and pretty as the stuffing filled pillow backed couches, but they don't flatten out as the pillow types always do. If you want to keep using those types consider learning how to restuff them or get someone to do it for you.

Yeah- that was another concern I had about leather- sticking or sliding off. LOL.

Never thought about foam type pillows so I'll have to check into that. Thanks!!!

This is a picture that closest resembles what I have for a couch. My cats also sleep on the back of it (smashed down in all comfy
) and so far it doesn't look much worse for the wear. I think we've had it a year now?

i have 2 different kinds. one is like this one from ikea, but a 2-seater - nice in that the covers can be removed & laundered.
then i have one similar to this from la-z-boy w/the 2 recliners on either side & the fold-down table in the middle. i keep the table down all the time w/a cat pad on it - it's Pixel's favorite spot
downside - hard to clean [it's that nubby velour stuff]. when i replace it, i'm planning to get something similar, but w/a close-weave type fabric - something like chintz or canvas.

Chenille? Chenille isn't easy to clean. I like fairly heavy brushed cotton. Easy to clean. A friend has heavy twill. Also easy to clean.

As for leather - it's not comfortable in my opinion. Too slidey and pets seem drawn to it.

My leather couch is actually really comfortable. I haven't had the problem of sticking to it or sliding off.

I took a couple pictures to show you what my couch looks like since last August, and I didn't even have a puppy to do the worst of the damage until the end of October.
This is the arm of the matching chair.

The cushions on the couch. Don't mind my puppies paws in the picture, he loves to sit on the couch.

This is my couch and love seat, it's kinda like a soft material but very strong and Autumn's claws hasn't done any damage so far. As you can see it has the attached puffy back pillows and yes Autumn gets up on top and I have to puff out the pillows often but I do like this set. I had a leather couch many years ago, they are easy to clean but they are sweaty in the summer and cold in the winter. I would never buy anything leather again, only my opinion.
