Two days ago, Jake and I were outside, I was reading he was watching birds...I was focused on my book and didn't see when a little stray black kitty came up on the other side of the fence...
Jake and her stared at each other, she made a step towards the fence, Jake stepped back, then Jake made a step and she stepped back...until she ran away when she saw me move.
In the past 3 nights I hear meowing in that sort of crying voice every night....At first I thought it was Jake because their voices are kinda similar..But then I noticed Jake is right next to me, and he too heard it and had his ears up on alert.
Today it's pouring rain and the little baby is crying again. I went outside with a flashlight, but couldn't find her. I would have let her sleep in the garage with Jake's bed that he never uses...but she's nowhere to be found. I left some food out for her..Will see if she found it tomorrow. I am really worried about her now in this rain
I hope she's alright.

Awwwww......I'm betting she'll come back and you'll be able to get close to her. She's crying.....how hearbreaking.
Best of luck luring her in!!

Awww, she is lucky to find you!!! Try putting a stinky can of tuna outside, near a window so you can look out and see her eating. Then when you see her out there you could go out and see if she is friendly or feral. If she lets you pet her make sure you wash your hands before you touch Jake, just to be safe.

Trapping her is a great idea.
Nip (and tuna) works great for trapping. You could also use a carrier as a makshift trap, put tuna/nip in it, tie a string to the door and hide. You can hide in a bush (lol, I know) or around the corner of the house. If she goes in it gently pull the string so the door closes, hold the string tight because she may freak out!

If you trap/catch her, are you keeping her or finding her a home? Oh, don't forget to ask your neighbors if they are missing a cat, or know who she belongs to.

Thanks for the suggestions!! I will try the tuna tomorrow..Tonight I'll leave more food.
I am so busy now because it's finals week and I have a 30 page final paper to write so it may not be a great idea to trap her just yet, but in a week or so I will see...I found a few shelters here who let people borrow traps for free, if she is feral I will do that, if she isn't I will see if anyone lost a cat, and if not I'll get her to the vet to check her out and then try to find her a home..probably keep her for a while... She didn't look lost, she was soo skinny. If she is lost, she has been lost for a long time...
