Today is Palm Sunday, my question is do you collect the Palm at Church and do you make something out of it. I donâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t go to church but Palm is given to me and I usually make a crucifix out of it. My sister and I then put it on our parents grave. My mom always brought the Palm home from church every year so I make sure she still has it now. Do any of you bring home the Palm.

Yes I do! Just got back from church. I don't make anything out of it. I just fold it and tack it above my front door and behind the cross in my bedroom. It is said that blessed palm keeps the ghosts and bad spirits away.

Our church doesn't do that. I guess it is the custom of a certain church I am not familiar with.

I don't attend church anymore but when I was a child the palm leaves were always made into the shape of a cross and I used to pin it on my bedroom wall.

Growing up the palm always was over a picture. My mom was the church organist from 1970 till 2000. This upcoming Holy Week was her busiest time. Extra masses etc.

I really miss her this time of year especially. Sorry a bit off topic but just feeling a little blue today.

I know how that feels. Certain times of year, if someone you loved was really involved, it brings back those memories.

I save the palm leaf, make a little cross out of it and put it behind a prayer I have mounted on the wall. Then, a couple of weeks before Ash Wednesday, our church asks for the palms back, if you've kept them, and they're burned and the ashes are used for distribution of the ashes at the Ash Wednesday services.

the tradition here as well you told us the palms are prepar to participate during the mass and then you can take a little for go home...think: usually make a cross with that and put behind our doors...
the oldest we deposit in special places for burn and this will convert in ashes in the church for the next WEDNESDAY of ASHES of the coming year!..

that we do here in my city..

also Eastern/greek orthodox which is what i was raised as, and we used olive tree branches or willow tree branches instead of palms since palms don't really grow in Europe..
I have no idea if it's observed in any protestant denominations??

Yes. I'm Lutheran, and we've been doing it for years....at least in my ELCA church.
