Our good deed for the day. (Long)

So as most of you know, my bf, Dana, and I foster kitties for the local shelter and we're there quite a bit. We were there last weekend and we just happened to look around at the dogs as well. There was one dog there who stole our heart... His name is Ruffles and he has been at the shelter since LAST summer. He is so super sweet with humans, but he has certain aggression issues with other dogs and cats therefore no one wanted to adopt him and get him the proper training and help he needs.
Well Dana and I are not able to adopt a dog because aside from the fact that our lifestyle is FAR too busy to properly care for one, it is in our lease that we can have as many cts at we want but no dogs. I was at work earlier this week and a coworker mentioned to me that ANOTHER coworker of ours was looking into adopting a dog from the shelter and was looking at their website and WHO was she interested in?!? None other than Ruffles! This woman had a dog for 14 years who passed away last October and she is now ready to adopt. She is a single, older woman with no other pets.
I got in touch with this other coworker and told her all about Ruffles, including his issues and her exact words were "We all have issues!". She mentioned she was going to go in next week when she could get a friend to drive her there to meet him, but really wanted to get in to see him. We talked some more and I offered to bring her in today to meet him. (Anything to help an animal in need get adopted!)
Well we brought her in today, she met Ruffles and it was love at first sight! After MANY months of shelter life, he is getting a wonderful home with a woman commited to providing everything he needs, INCLUDING proper training and most importantly, love. I couldn't possibly be any happier for BOTH of them!

There are no accidents - and this was meant to be. How wonderful of you to help the process along!

for Ruffles and his new mom. When does he get to go home?

Thank you for sharing this wonderful happy story with us. I am still weeping over the one I just read, but at least now I am smiling through my tears.

You people who do rescue, shelter and foster work are my heroes. My admiration for you and gratitude for what you do knows no boundaries. Thank you, to you and Dana, and to all of you who do this work, from the bottom of my heart.

I'm with you, Otto. I had such a rough day at work, so this brightened my day right up. Bless you for helping Ruffles.
