Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts.
A REPRIEVE! Yes! I was hoping for this, and I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that she makes it through comfortably. I'm so glad she at least has a chance; she deserves it. Try to get some nourishment into her in the meantime, as she'll need her strength for the surgery. If she won't eat, try syringe feeding; we can help you here.

Please keep us updated!

PS: I hope that the vet is prescribing pain medication in the meantime. If she can't handle pills, there are easy sub-Q injections that take just a second to administer and can help her.

That's good news in a tough situation.

If its any help, given the circumstance, I would make the same choice to give her a chance.

I hope all goes well.

As one of the members has already asked. Has the vet given her any painkillers?.
She has been on pain meds all along. The vets wanted us to wait 6-8 weeks before doing any dental to make sure the heart meds were working. Abby wasn't eating much at all and I knew she was hungry and wanted to eat but was refusing. I'd been calling the vet, almost every day, telling them she wasn't eating well and was in pain. I thought that putting her down was more humane than making her suffer. It wasn't til the vet saw her today that she really understood what I was trying to tell them all along. She realized that Abby can't wait any longer. I hope she makes it through the surgery and once she is over it I won't be going back to them with my cats. I already have an appt. with a new vet for Callie and when Abby is over this I will take her in as well. I just can't believe my vet(who we have been going to for over 20 yrs) would do this to my pet and make her suffer so much. It's been such a rollercoaster ride for us all. Abby's pain meds are liquid that I give orally. Will let everyone know what happens on Monday.

I'm happy that Abby has been given a reprieve. I so hope that the dental on Monday goes well, and she has many more happy years with you. Sending many, many and prayers.

I know, i think we can all understand how your feeling because we hate to see our babies suffer. The main thing is you've found another vet once this is all over with.

I am glad the vet is willing to give the dental a go - I had a foster last year who really shouldnt have had an anaesthetic (incredibly high thyroid and liver values), but he wasn't eating at all, so I agreed to give him that chance, and he pulled through with no issues at all.

Everyone's prayers must have worked because Abby made it through the dental surgery. The vet said the ECG they did was not encouraging as it shows heart disease but didn't rule out using anthestic. She did have to lose two teeth instead of one so no wonder my poor baby wasn't eating well. Hopefully she will in a few days time. The ultrasound she did have showed her not having an enlarged heart so the vet thinks it is just the start of the heart disease. I will go and get her in about four hours time. She held her own through the surgery but her blood pressure did drop abit but I'm just glad it's over for her now. We just have to watch her for heart disease symptoms now. But that will be the job of our new vet as I'm not going back to these guys now.
Abby thanks you for your prayers too.

I am so glad to hear this. Some heart disease is treatable though, so hopefully she can have some medication that will help her.
