I am sorry you got your feelings hurt. I hope the cat gets rescued. I have never been able to figure out why someone would want a dog over a cat.
Cats are smarter.

Oh, man. That's good. I feel so sorry for that poor kitty. Reading your original post, I got so angry I was shaking. Thanks for keeping on top of this, those people don't deserve having that lovely animal.

Uh, my feelings aren' hurt. I still get surprised by the depths of human stupidity and bad behavior... so it makes me angry. And determined to get that cat out of there. I would go get him but I have no place to put him.

Maybe that's it, some people feel threatened by an animal that's smarter than they are, lol. What I can't grasp is how they justify that the new animal is more important than the original. With enough effort on the part of the owner a compromise can generally be found that leaves both animals in the home and happy.

Thanks for all the kudos. I am not sure I am the one who prompted the rescue to take him in... many rescues keep tabs on Craigslist. Either way I am glad he's out. A source a little closer to the situation said not only was the cat being terrorized by a dog, but also by the toddler in the house. She said to me, "the owner sounded like a skunk."

This was forwarded to me this evening from the rescue's intake coordinator:

Hi All
We at Purrs Abound picked up Baron the Ragdoll Tuesday morning and he went directly to our vet for a complete exam and to rule out a UTI. Baron does have a mild UTI and is being treated. I picked him up from the vets today and he is settling in and seems very relaxed even with the other cats and my dogs.

It seems the owners had a pit bull, got in a car accident and gave the dog away. Got the cat off Craig's list and then the dog was returned to them. The volunteer who picked Baron up couldn't get him out of there fast enough. The cat started staying in the bathroom upon the dogs return and they moved his litter in there and he has not had any accidents since, however, he never leaves the bathroom and the mother allows the 4 year old daughter to play unsupervised in the bathroom with the cat. She has cut his fur off in many places playing beauty parlor UGH! She was pulling him around the house by his tail while the volunteer was there and the girl told her the cat likes it.

My vet feels the UTI likely was brought on from the stress and we hope he clears up and has no further problems now that he can live without fear and be chased by the dog or terrorized by a child.

I wanted to let everyone know how he was doing.

I am soooooooo glad he is OUT OF THERE!! People like these moron losers shouldn't have pets or kids, IMO
