Termites

has anybody here ever dealt with any pest control companies regarding termites? we live in so. cal. and have do to something about them really soon. i had talked to a guy at one of those home and garden shows last year and he said they have new methods of dealing with them now. that you don't have to have your house tented anymore and that you and your pets don't have to leave anymore while they're spraying. we have 9 cats so going to a hotel overnight is not an option.
if anybody has any recommendations or advice i'd really appreciate it. thanks, connie

They haven't tented homes in quite a while.

How bad are the termites? Are they coming through any interior walls or are you just noticing them outside?
What they do is go around the foundation of the home, drill down into the foundation and spray. They'll also spray the infested areas.

It's also very very important that you make sure no landscaping or debris is against the home or any drainage issues (from rain/gutters). I live in a rather dry area where if you landscape right up against the house, and are regularly watering that, it will attract termites. Wood piled near or against a house is asking for trouble.

There are different sites you can look online for business reviews, now. Also ask around. We've had some people come in and spray and all it did was make the termites hide for a bit.
