His foster mom named him Parker, but I've been calling him BlackJack. I can't decide on a name for him.
I found him on PetFinder: he & his sister were abandoned at a high-kill shelter in Beaumont, and he was scheduled to be euthanized.
Thankfully, his foster mom took him & his sister in. When I saw his profile on PetFinder, I just knew he was going to be something special, so I drove almost 100 miles to adopt him. When I first held him in my arms, he tucked his little head in the crook of my arm just like my Maverick used to do, and needless to say, I was a goner.
He's such a sweetheart, and so laid-back & loving: he has the same purr-sonality that my precious Maverick had.
I still grieve every day over losing Maverick, but adopting BlackJack/Parker has helped to ease the pain a little.

Here he is in the infamous cheesehead kitty house:

For some reason, I can't think of what I want to name him. Usually it comes to me by now.
I've thought of quite a few names for him, but none of them seem just "right" for him.
I may have to post a poll and let the TCS members decide.

I guess I'm not really in too big of a hurry anyway, because I don't plan on changing Maverick's memorial siggy for quite some time.

These are the names I've thought of so far:

BlackJack
Santana
Montgomery
Gemini
Jericho
Malibu
Aquarius

Anyone have any suggestions?

You know, I do believe you may be right.
It's rather strange how I happened to come across Parker/BlackJack's profile on PetFinder. I hardly ever go on PetFinder because it's too depressing to see all those poor furbabies who need a home and to read all those sad stories.
But one night I was grieving so badly over Maverick and I was trying desperately to keep my mind off of him. Something drew me to PetFinder, and there was BlackJack's profile: I kept coming back to it for some reason. I really had no intention of adopting another kitty just yet because I needed time to grieve over Maverick, but something kept nagging at me to contact the place where BlackJack was so I did. The next thing I knew, I was making arrangements to go and meet him. I've never traveled such a distance before to adopt a kitty, but something was drawing me to him. I really don't believe it was just a coincidence.
Call me crazy, but I've seen stranger things happen.

We got 2 black kitties in July, and had a hard time with naming one of them. Then all of sudden it just came to us...Darko! I think it will come to you too, when the right one hits you. (today is Darko's first birthday, I'm so excited...I never had a cat where I actually KNEW their birthdate)

By the way, congrats on your new furbaby. He's a beauty.

What I actually meant to say was I'm not in too big of a hurry to have a new siggy made just yet -- NOT that I'm not in a hurry to choose a name for BlackJack.
For some reason, I'm grieving pretty badly today over Maverick, and am not thinking too clearly.

Santana was my first choice, but BlackJack is growing on me. I also really like Montgomery: he just looks like a Montgomery to me.

I got what you meant, it took us a while to choose Quincy's name too, and I was never 100% on it but we have used it so long... he has loads of nicknames and I usually use those more than their names anyway

Same thing here too. I use their nicknames more than their real names. Poor Gabriel doesn't even know his real name any more, because I've been calling him by his nickname for so long.

I think I'll know when the "right" name comes along for BlackJack - just like all the other times when choosing a name for the furkids. I think BlackJack would be a good nickname for him.

Wow he's stunning! Congrats on your new addition. Maverick definitely had a paw in getting you and Blackjack together

Oh that boy is beautiful! He's just an adorable furball. He chose well for his new Meowmie and bless Maverick's heart for helping him to find you.

(((hugs)))

Maverick, you little dickens for leading your meowmy to Blackjack!

I like Santana and Blackjack for names, but he also looks like he's got a little Voodoo about him.
