On Feb 1 I had to have Zoe put to sleep. She was acting a little mellow for a few days, but I didn't think much of it until one day I noticed she was breathing really fast. I took her to the Vet and they weren't sure what was wrong but because of x-rays they knew she had a fluid build up in her lungs. They treated her with lasics, but recommended I take her to the Animal Hospital because they could not tell if it was because of her heart. The hospital ran some test and found she had hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. They treated her overnight and kept her the next day and her breathing returned to normal. They gave me some drugs that could help her, or not depending on how advanced the condition was. She was ok for 2 days, but on the 1st her breathing got fast and labored again. I knew it was time to let her go because we had done all we could.

I still expect her to greet me at the door when I get home. She was my outgoing cat, while her brother Miles is the shy crazy cat. She could be a brat, jumping on counters and chewing wires, but she made up for it by being a total sweetheart most of the time. I know she is in a better place now, but I miss her.

Isn't it the most painful thing in the world?

I had a kitty with diabetes, we found out too late to help with anything at all but he survived on his insulin for 3 months and passed away the day I graduated from college.. Needless to say I was not a happy camper taking that diploma, I didn't even "return to my seat" I just left and sat out in the rain where we buried him and cried for hours.

It hurts so bad, and I still haven't gotten over it, and it's been months.

I wish your heart the best of luck in healing. <3

I'm very sorry for your loss. It must be especially hard for you, given that she was so young.

RIP Zoe.

I am so, so sorry.
I too know the pain of losing a beloved kitty. You did the right thing by letting her go. May she rest in peace and always live forever in your heart.
