That's great!

My tip for being happy is...

Believe that you DESERVE to be happy!. It'll help you find the humor in not happy situations and help you avoid self-pity.

You deserve that toast!

my tips: walk outside often when you can, soak in the real sun, take naps, keep pets in your life, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, set boundaries, read more, want less, appreciate the little things in life as well as the big things, take pictures and celebrate life, think positive thoughts even when it is hard - there is always a lot to be thankful for in your life and to make you smile if you look

I am not a "happy" person per se.... But what I do to feel positive is: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=208308 Think about anything that I am thankful for, whether it be something as small as having clean laundry, to not having to pay for my surgery..... Just trying to think of something to be thankful for and it helps me stay positive.

Mine is being a happy person to be around. Always find something nice to say about the people you talk to throughout the day and smile at everyone who passes you. This way your day is filled with positive conversations and lots of smiles.

I wasn't feeling very positive when I started this thread, but reading what others wrote helped me twist my mood (and taking a half hour walk around the hospital with my DH helped also... I was stressed)

Such great advice so far!! I thought of another one... one that I started when I was a waitress.

I always tried to make each of my tables laugh at least once!

So... I usually try to make people laugh at least once when I first encounter them.

For me, it makes our encounter happier, and perhaps people are happier to see you. I've been having a lot of fun making my nurses laugh. My mom was that way too, even when she was in the hospital for the last time, she always tried to make her nurses laugh, and I have heard so many positive things about her. I still hear what a wonderful woman she was, and how positive she was.

Be safe

Wanted to add, I could quote each post to say how great they all are, but it might interrupt the flow of the thread. I love happiness I feel reading what everyone has added so far!!

Be happy for the things you do have and appreciate them and the people you love every day.

Whenever I need to "happy up", (and yes I do use that phrase! LOL), I do something nice and unexpected for my wife, my kids, or one of my friends. Seeing them happy always does the trick for me. Highly recommended even if it is something small and/or cheap. Hersheys kisses or a goofy homemade card go a long way.

I am a happy person in general though, sometimes a tad too happy, according to my boss.

Happy up, everyone!

Dave

P.S. This is an excellent thread. Just so you know.

From my hubby:

When you think of something negative try to think of something positive about the same thing.

Stop. Just stop. Take some time for you. We are often so busy doing things for other people that, sometimes, we forget to do something for ourselves. And we have to realize that we are important, too.

I just mentioned in another thread (Super Bowl) that my DH was leaving on union stuff for a week. What I didn't say is that I love that time when he's away. Don't get me wrong; I love my DH. Honest I do. But that time is special for me....if I don't feel like making dinner, I don't have to. If I want to flop down on the sofa with a good book, I can. Yes, I could do that when he's home, too, but it's different. And when he comes home, I'm always so glad to see him!

Everybody needs to take a breather every now and again.

Don't sweat the small stuff.

You will never be happy if you are always worried or getting upset about the small things in life.

TIPS FOR BEING HAPPY; Be kind to those less fortunate than yourself. Be tolerate. Make a sad person smile. And hug a cat at least once a day to keep your heart full.

Totally agreed, but easier said than done. I wish I were better at not sweating the small stuff.
