My kitten keeps eating the adult food and the older one keeps eating the kitten food. I feed them separate, but somehow Kiki always manages to eat Whisper's food even if I put his bowl in the middle of his kennel. They are just like kids the one always wants what the other one has.

I have decided I will just switch to a food that they both can have.....any suggestions?

EVO is the best dry food available IMO. It is all life stage.

Else there is: Wellness CORE, Orijen, Blue Wilderness, Felidae grain free, Nature's Variety Instinct, and Taste of the Wild. They are also all grain free all life stage foods. Natural Balance is an all life stage but isn't grain free.

Are you feeding wet or dry? I do highly encourage you try feed at least some wet. 50% wet, 50% dry is much better than just dry if you can handle it.

I just switched Whisper from Science Diet to Authority kitten food and Kiki eats adult indoor cat food from Authority.

I guess I should rephrase to: I need a good inexpensive one.

(However the Authority kitten food seems to be giving Whisper very stinky gas.)

I can get to a Petsmart, Petco, Walmart, Target, Kmart...the feed store is over an hour away not a trip I prefer to take if I can avoid it.

affco seal? Whisper is 3 months old and Kiki is just over a year.

Authority isn't all life stages.

Natural Balance. It isn't cheap but it isn't expensive, it the least expensive of all. It's all life stages and a good food. Unless you want to go bottom basement crap food(like cat chow, which is all life stages, there are few other crap foods that are also all life stages) Natural Balance is the cheapest all life stages food that isn't crap. Honestly for what you are paying for 2 different cat foods it would probably come out to the same amount as buying Natural Balance. Plus you can buy larger bags as opposed to the 8 lb bags of Authority you can get a 15 lb bag of Natural Balance and at Petco with a pet pals card after you buy 10 bags you get one bag free so really it all works out.

I feed Nuts, Attitude and Maude Natural Balance and it is a good food and it doesn't matter if they decide to eat out of each other's bowls(I swear mine never eat out of the same bowl twice.)

Like I said this is about as cheap as you are going to get for a good quality all life stages food.

I am NOT a huge fan of NB as it has much more grain and less fat than comparable formulas ...

I am not sure any of those is "all life stages."

At Petco -

Avoderm is all life stages... not sure about the quality of the food. My boys didn't like the wet... but they are fussy.

Castor & Pollux Organix
Solid Gold Katzen-flocken

My guys really like Taste of the Wild. Ask around - is there any specialty pet store in your area that may carry it?

Petsmart has Blue Wilderness, Petco has Wellness CORE. They are more expensive seeming but aren't much more because you feed much less.

Petsmart also has By Nature 95% wet food. Petco has the large cans of grainfree Wellness. The chicken and turkey varieties I do believe are about 500 calories in the 13 ounce cans...which is about what two cats need a day.

Authority is actually better in terms of ingredients than Science Diet and cheaper. How old is the kitten? Because if the kitten is a bit older (closer to 9 months or so) you might as well put both on adult food. And Blue Wilderness formula is all life stages and is relatively low grain, but its only worth buying in larger bags. Petco has some decent foods, but READ the ingredients, some grain free food is actually not the quality of Blue if you look at the rest of the ingredients.

My honest advice: just use a good adult food, and look at the ingredients. They put sneaky stuff in some of those foods that you wouldn't think.

Whisper is still a baby he just turned 3 months. And Kiki is just over a year. The Authority seems to be giving Whisper gas. And Kiki seems to get too fat on kitten food. I guess I'll just go back to the pet store and look around to see what I can find.

Well, we have given you lots of suggestions to study.

AT PETSMART:
Blue Wilderness ( I think it's all stages - check the bag.)
By Nature
Avoderm

AT PETCO:
Avoderm
Castor & Pollux Organix
Solid Gold Katzen-Flocken
Wellness Core

I don't think you can go wrong with any of these foods. The rest is up to the kitties ... don't know what they will eat!! They make the final decision - right?

In the snow!!!!
I used to buy Brandon Farms at Kroger, but the Kroger here never gets rid of the old food when it expires and after getting a rancid bag, it just wasn't worth it. Now we go to WalMart and get Newman's own for our girls. It seems to be every bit as good as Brandon Farms and instead of being packaged in a paper bag like Brandon Farms, it is packaged in Plastic so it stays fresher.

I highly recommend Newman's Own. It is quality and relatively inexpensive and since Walmart carries it, it is easy to get.
