I already got a present for my grandparents, but I thought I would get them each a little something extra. I already have something picked out for grandma so I need to find something for grandpa. He had some health problems years ago that left him confined to a wheelchair and left with the use of only one arm. He used to love taking photos and putting them in albums. I know that no one has taken any pictures of his current cats so I'm thinking of putting together a small photo album of the cats as his gift. When he and grandma go on vacation next week I'll have plenty of time to take pictures of the cats. I'm not sure If I should put the pictures in a small photo album or in picture frames. I could do a picture frame for each cat (five of them) or I could get one of those collage picture frames where I can put in several small pictures. What do you all think? Do any of these ideas sound like a good idea? I can't really think of anything else to get him. I know he loves his kitties so I think he would appreciate this type of gift.

I think that's an excellent idea! The album, picture frames and the collage... all great. I might go with the photo album.
A gift made by you and from the heart is the best gift ever!

What a great gift! Sometimes you can find photo albums just for cat pictures(a girlfriend gave me a neat cat photo album a couple years ago and it's adorable). Or if there is space on his walls, you could print larger pictures, frame them and hang them. He will appreciate this gift!

You're a caring granddaughter.

What a great idea! If your grandparents have the wall space, I'd probably go for the framed pictures rather than the album, because they'll enjoy them all the time.

Thanks everyone. I wasn't sure if that was a good gift idea or not. I think I'll put together a photo album. My grandparents don't have much wall space or space just to sit picture frames. Grandpa is always looking through old photo albums so I think an album is the way to go. I wish I could put together a video of his cats but that's just not possible right now. I might get some video footage to use at a later time though. I think he'd appreciate having videos of the cats after they've passed on.

I think that's a lovely idea to put together a photo album. He will certainly appreciate the thought you've put into it.

Could you do a slide show on DVD that he could watch on his tv? I've made a few of those for people and they're always a big hit. There are several different software packages you can use, I don't know how much they cost, though. I got ProShow Gold a few years ago, it wasn't cheap, but supposedly the best.

What about a digital picture frame? There are some inexpensive ones.

I've run into a problem with this gift.

I haven't exchanged gifts with them yet because they were out of town. They have three cats that they've had for 8+ years. They adopted two cats in early 2009 without actually thinking it through. The one cat was supposed to belong to the young lady who lives with them. But my grandparents have the cat in their name and pay for everything. The young lady doesn't really pay attention to the cat. So my grandmother told me yesterday that she's considering giving this cat to her son. She says she has too many cats and that she adopted those two cats without thinking it through.

So now I don't know if I should include those two cats in the photo album, especially since she might give the one away. I don't know how they feel about the other one. I don't know how gramps feels about the one they might give away, I think he likes that one.

So I don't know if I should just include the three cats they've had for years or also include the other two or just the one they're keeping. I wasn't able to get many pictures so it's going to be a very small photo album with 4-6 pictures of each cat. Any thoughts on what I should do?

I think I'd include the two cats that have shared their lives for almost a year, no matter whether they decide to keep them.

I agree with this and I also think a digital photo frame is a great idea, they are reasonabl cheap nowadays and they can look at the kitties all the time. x
