Nuh uh...might give me away!
I have to say that Jacob is my favorite character, even though I'm totally on Team Edward. The reason Jacob is my fave, is because he's the most flushed-out character in the series. There's more depth to him than any other character, IMO. I truly believe that Bella is more of a shell than a truly well-developed character, but it works for the story. Anyone reading that book can identify with her because she's kind of empty.

But that's just my opinion.

I feel like I will probably be hated for this but...

Why isn't there an option for "I completely hate and despise all things Twilight"?

Or at the very least "I don't like Twilight".

There are several reasons to not like Twilight if you look at it from a factual view instead of an obsessed fangirl view.

Such as how Edward is abusive and Jacob is a Pedophile, and an even bigger problem I have with the books is how it encourages suicide/depression among teen girls when they have a bad breakup. Maybe we should all teach our daughters that it's okay to get knocked up at a young age because we (the parents) will raise your children for you and buy you a cozy little "love" shack in the woods where you can have all the crazy sex you want all the time.

Bella is also the symbolism of sexism.

I have read all of the books and through my journey and the second re-read I decided that Meyer has absolutely drab writing skills and it was very hard for her to maintain my attention, most of the time I found myself going "what the heck is happening?".

All valid points, I think you're overreacting, but I like your enthusiastic and passionate hatred for Twilight and I see where you're coming from. I also think the author has the ultimate right to make her characters do whatever her imagination wants them to. For so many books I read, I get angry that the character isn't doing what I want them to. I get seriously upset, but all I can do is accept it because it isn't my story to write. I think that's something a lot of readers miss and they think if they don't agree with what the characters are doing, then they can complain to the author about it...
Well, I hate the way Bella acted in the first three books, but it's just the way it was written, I just have to accept that despite my feelings. It was written for entertainment, not to teach anyone any morals...

I understand that there is absolutely nothing that I can do to change the way her books were written or the way her characters act in them, but its only when I see obsessive love for Twilight I feel I must point out everything that is wrong with them. The fact is that young girls (and boys) often read way too into things and they learn a lot from what they read and watch.

I feel like a lot of fans miss, pass off, or are just oblivious to the raw facts that make Twilight a bad series due to their undying love for Jacob and/or Edward.

As much as I dislike Twilight, I will still take time to watch the second movie just to see if there are any improvements in acting. Plus I also feel that I have no right to give criticism without experiencing something first hand.

The only credit I can really give to Twilight is that so far (for the first movie anyways) the book was far better. The actress who played Bella just made me crack up through the entire film.

Also, to everyone who thinks Edward and Jacob are soo hot...Am I the only one who thought the actor who played Carlisle was a hunk?

I feel like slapping some of the kids who have an uneahlthy obsession because I feel like anyone that obsessed over a stupid little story that I read one day then forgot all about has no life whatsoever!! I honestly wouldn't give a second thought about Twilight the day after I finished the books, if I didnt' have so many of my friends reminding me about it, and I'm just so puzzled what is so special about it for these people to look into the lives of the actors, listen to soundtracks, buy twilight themed items...I honestly don't get it...I mean, I read it, had fun and then it's time to move on to better more interesting books...
Yea, I don't mean to rant but it really confuses me and pisses me off in a way, because I want to talk to my friends about my current obsession and discuss that, not last year's

I thought Carlisle's make up was the worst btw, the actor is definitely hot but I couldn't get past the bad make up...

Nope....I think he is also!
I can see the points you have made - which are all very valid, however, it is just a book. To me at least. A good story with a lot of conflict, emotion, and action. Teens do have a tendency to read too much into a story, but not all of them.

Yeah, Carlisle is hot too. I actually think all the guys are good looking, Jacob, Edward, Emmett, Jasper.

I don't see how Edward is abusive, but I do see how Jacob could be seen as a pedophile, at least in Breaking Dawn. But, Jacob imprinted, and he didn't have a choice. If you remember, Quil also imprinted on a child. But, as it is in the story, imprinting is NOT just about romance. If a wolf imprints on a child, their role in the child's life is to be there to protect the child and give them whatever they want. They wait for the child to grow up, before they start to be romantically interested..

I really love basically any vampire story. True Blood is my favorite, I always watch the show, I am waiting for the next season to start. I haven't got around to read the books yet.

The very reason for imprinting is to ensure that the wolf procreates. I believe that Meyer indicates that Jacob (or Quill) would have been whatever their imprintee needs until they reach maturity, whether it be a brother, uncle, or father figure. Doesn't it sound a little odd to go from a brother-like figure to a mate? To me it sounds a lot like "grooming."

Edward may be a Vampire but his actions are also abusive. He often talks about how weak and fragile Bella is, but he still treats her cruely, and the common excuse for this is that "But Edward is a Vampire and Bella is Human." Well, Edward knows this and with him being a vampire with vast ammounts of knowledge and years of going to highschool and dealing with other humans, he should know by now.

Edwards Jealousy is one thingthat can be seen as abusive, and forcing her to be isolated from her friends is not a way to love somebody for instance.

I was so determined not to like Twilight. I thought it was a dumb teenage fad and never touched any of the books or watched the movies, until my friend suggested it for the millionth time and I gave in. Now I'm hooked.

It definitely does bother me how controlling Edward is and how passive and submissive Bella is. . .but I'm still crazy about Twilight now, and that's just how the characters are. Fortunately I'm old enough not to be totally influenced by Bella's actions, self esteem, etc., but sadly I worry that younger fans will think it's okay to let a partner push them around because it's "romantic" or whatever.

I wouldn't say I'm a fan of the books/movies necessarily; the first movie was okay, the second one was very good, but what I AM a fan of is Alice's hair. It's enough to make a straight man want to be a hairstylist.
