About a week ago we found alittle kitten in the attic of our shop. We've been feeding him Just Born kitten milk through a bottle. Since friday, hes been happily drinking at least 80ml's through a bottle. He was very skinny when we found him, but he has really bloated out. Im getting alittle concerned because hes really getting the belly on him! At first I thought he was just gaining weight. Based on our scale, for the past three days hes gained 1 oz each day. He's alittle over 3 weeks, well, we think at least based on his weight and pictures.

But, Ive been going through old threads and read that most kittens (especially ones born to stray cats) typically have worms. Is he old enough to be de-wormed? If so, what is a good de-wormer to use?

Is the kitten using the bathroom alright? When they are very little you have to stimulate them so they can "go".

when we found him, it wasnt until the third day that he finally went. Since then, Ive been able to get him to go every day now. I stimulate him to pee after every feeding, which he does (alot!) and then usually in the evening he poo's. Usually he starts to poo, and it gets stuck to his fur, so I stuck him under the faucet, and the warm water seems to stimulate him to go pretty well. I did this this evening and he poo'd more then Ive ever seen him this past week, but then again, he's also been eating ALOT. Could it just be alot of weight gain. his belly just seems very tight and full feeling. I tried to take pictures, but they do no justice to the roundness LOL

Make sure you're using a warm wet cloth to stimulate him.

It could be worms, but it could also be the formula you're using. He may not be digesting it as well as he should. If in doubt, take him to the vet. It's the safest and best way to get answers.

is there a specific formula that is better than others? Right now we have been using Just Born kitten formula. Its the pre-mixed kind... should I possibly try another and see if that helps?

If he is gaining weight, peeing, pooping and being happy I wouldn't change anything. He could have worms but most vets will not de-worm until they are 8 weeks old. Changing food can cause him to bloat even more and become constipated. You can try rubbing his belly or even burping him to help the gas problem. My bottle babies would get distended bellies too and I spoke to the vets I worked with and there was not anything they could do about it. Good Luck with the little guy and hope to see pics of him soon.
