A coworker told me this afternoon that her 13 year old Yorkie just went blind over the weekend after taking prednisone for an allergy problem. His entire body swelled up after taking it for a few days, and in the process, this caused him to go blind. Has anyone had any experience with this sort of reaction, and what was the outcome?

And can anyone recommend any good sites for ideas for how to manage a blind dog?

And if you could spare some vibes for this poor little guy, his name is Teddy Bear and he is a 13 year old Yorkie. My coworker is absolutely devastated because she blames herself for not noticing the problem sooner. Telling her it's not her fault is not comforting her right now.

They are really hoping that the blindness will go away, but there is no quarantee that there wasn't optic nerve damage from the swelling. The swelling has gone done in his general body, but he still can't see.

I already referred my coworker to dogforum.org. She's working really hard on things to help him adjust.
