From reading the replies to this thread I would have thought desktop was running away with the vote (didn't realize there was a poll at first).
We gave up the desktop... I don't even remember how many years ago. Sometime around 2002? 2003? I cannot IMAGINE being tied down to a clunker in one spot! In fact, when we were still working at a firm that belonged to someone else, we asked them to take their desktops back, and we'd just bring our laptops and plug into the network. Which is what we did.
I'm confused about the keyboard thoughts... the only thing different that I can tell between the keyboard size is that there's no numbers pad on the laptop? I never used it on the keyboard to begin with, so I don't miss it.
Prices have come down sooooooo much on laptops - and the power, memory, storage and battery life are all so beyond anything I actually need now. If I were a gamer, I could see needing/wanting the desktop. But this is just too convenient. I can work - and talk - to you guys, anywhere I want to, anytime. My Internet connection is a USB wireless, so I'm not even tied down to some DSL line or wireless hub for my online connection.
