Stuffed bell peppers tonight. Not sure what to go with it. Something light, maybe a salad.

Time to start thinking of soups and chili and other cold weather food now. I had to turn my heat on last night for the first time so a nice pot roast is looking good for some time this weekend!

Oh yeah! I love pot roast. The gravy is always so delicious as well.

I forgot to think about tonight's dinner when I was shopping yesterday. Not bright. However, it did afford the opportunity to float some possibilities by The Boy, in preparation for a quick run up the road. I didn't get very far, actually. He stopped me at "fish" and said, wistfully, "We haven't had sole for a while - I like what you do with sole."

So, barring the unforeseen, it's panfried sole fillets, baby potatoes, and whatever veg looks nice. After several heavy meals last weekend, and the leftovers from the pork roast, I'm not really surprised that fish spoke to him. Now all I have to do is figure out dessert -- hmmm, on the "light" theme, maybe zabaglione would be a good idea. He likes that, too -- a lot.

I'll pass on the sole (prefer halibut or orange ruffy) but I'll join you for the zabaglione. There was a restaurant near work some years back that did an awesome zabaglione and I availed myself of it every chance I got. I was also into creme broulet for awhile but am waning on that a bit now.

I was looking for some pork bellies at the grocery the other night to pop in the oven over the weekend for snacking on but they didn't have any. Of course they don't last long once they're cooked so I guess you could say a "quick snack".

Tonight we are going to look at a dining set so since we'll be out anyway, perhaps my honey will treat me to dinner someplace.

Coquille Saint Jacques for us tonight. Never made it before, but I need to eat up some scallops in the freezer. I'm going to throw in shrimp and calamari too and call it dinner.
Don't know about dessert yet though...
Oh, and I made some semolina bread today which is one of my favourites!

MMM...Coquillles St Jacques. I have never gotten around to doing it either, but I can't hear the name without thinking of my Dad, who would order it anywhere he ran into it. Sounds like a nice dinner.

I'm currently eating lunch - chilli beans with lots of jalapenos and thick chilli sauce and nachos.

I'm thinking about going to pick something up for lunch dessert - even though I stewed some plums for lunch pud.

Ladies I have a dynamite recipe for Coquilles St. Jacques.

One of my alltime favourites whenever I see them on a menu is Oysters Rockefeller. I've made them a couple times myself and must say they turned out well.

And are you offering it? Hunh?

Found lovely little thin sole fillets. Could not, at this time of year, get Meyer lemons, which I love for this dish, but did bump into blood oranges, and thought, yes, that would be tasty and pretty. Did the house broccoli, and parslied new potatoes. Just what the doctor ordered. Offered seconds of broccoli and spuds -- or just move to dessert, "which is mostly air anyway". "Oh, yeah, I like that idea."

He did not yet know what was going around the air, so to speak -- until I asked if it was time to get on with it, before he ran out of wine. The answer was yes, and I picked up a couple of champagne flutes on the way to the kitchen -- to which he said, with big eyes, "It's not November yet!" (His birthday is 23 Nov, and he almost always asks for zabaglione.) I said, "No. But it's light." It definitely hit the spot.

At this point, I think it's probably going to be either pizza or Vietnamese -- that is, order in. I'm not feeling particularly energetic and will likely want to cop out of making dinner. But who knows....?

Fran, you're funny with your dinnertime stories! Hmmm, zabaglione...
Linday, you can't just tease with the recipes like that! My version came out alright, added shrimp and calamari and we drank the bottle of wine I had to open for the recipe. We're having leftovers tonight.
