Hubby called to say there had been a cancellation and they can now accommodate him in the Japanese cooking class at Panasonic tonight so I'll be having some Perogis. He doesn't like them so it's just me and Bijou this evening. When Panasonic does one of these classes they get to bring home some of the goodies so I'll have some samplings of Japanese cuisine later in the evening.

Last year around Christmas time they did a cookie exchange - the participating employees each made 6 dozen cookies and then they got to bring 1/2 dozen of each kind back home. It was . . . . interesting. Some were delicious and some were . . . . well, OK.

How do you do your leeks? The only way I use leeks has been in leek and potato soup. Do you braise them?

I did the perogis and fried up some onion to go with them because I don't like them with sour cream - I know I'm strange. I wondered if some of the home made applesauce might be good with them - yes! Very nice.

I often just pan fry leeks in oil or butter very lightly with lots of pepper and a touch of salt - similar to panfried onions. I go easy on the oil though otherwise it makes them real greasy. I love leeks!

Tonight I'm making my own creation - I'm baking some chicken schnitzel then on top of the stove I will be making a bacon, mushroom, onion, spinach and cheese topping and I will place that on top of the chicken when it's cooked and just let is brown for 5 minutes on grill. I made them once before and it was so yum. I let Kieran have the choice of either having tempura wedges or salad and he chose salad so nice and easy for me to whip up a salad with balsamic dressing.

We were also looking forward to chocolate dipped strawberries tonight but the price has gone up so I wont be buying any.

me too!

Tonight was slow cooked pork tenderloin with rice. I haven't been feeling well this week, so it was the first decent meal I've had in a couple of days.

Probably just make some quick cheeseburgers tonight. Cold, rainy, yucky day though so I wish I had a big pot of soup or something instead!

Something with the chicken leftovers, maybe quesadillas. I have an avocado that's begging to become guacamole.

I ended up making an apple crumble too!

Not sure about what's for tea tonight. I'm working until at least 1am again so I'm thinking either salad or a vege wrap or something??

Oh my! My mom used to make this and she even made her own noodles to go with it. Her sister was married to a Hungarian and he gave her the recipe. Unfortunately I have no idea where it is.
