Hi,

I've been dealing with Sheba's coughing/lung issue since early March. At first the vet thought asthma but it was ruled out by vet #2 who did an x-ray and found pneumonia, with a particularly bad concentration of it in one lung lobe.

Six weeks of doxy later and the coughing is better, but not gone and seems a bit worse since ending the antibiotic. Had her back in for x-ray #3 today. The vet says it's slightly better than x-ray #2, but still there, mostly in that one lobe.

He then said he can't rule out LUNG CANCER.

He gave me several options. I chose to do 2 more months of doxy, since she does improve and she seems perfectly healthy and happy in every other way. He wants to do another film a day or two prior to ending the antibiotic. If not considerably improved at that time, I've agreed to be referred to Dallas for more diagnostics. Of course if she worsens at any time, the plan will be revised.

I must say, I'm a bit shocked. Sheba's such a good girl--everyone at the vet clinic comments on how easy she is to work with. I just hope we can find a relatively simple solution to this issue. She'll be 3 years old in June....

Thanks for listening.

Cally
