Welcome to TCS!

Thank you for adopting a black cat. They are often the last to get adopted, so many shelters automatically put black strays to sleep.

thank you for all the welcomes! I am very excited to get my baby home! I don't even know what he/she looks like yet! Or age or anything, but I am still excited!

The rescue organization got in like 11 black cats. many from a horse stable so they are friendly but are in need of new homes. I am excited to hear back from the organization. I hope they are not put off by the fact that we have 5 dogs in the house right now....My dogs are all good with our other cat, Esme. So I hope they can trust my judgement that adding another cat will be a great step for us all. We are all awaiting the new baby!

We are thinking of the name Agador, if boy. And for sure the name Inka for a girl.

I will post soon when I know who is coming home!

Welcome to the forum. The husband and I had a heck of a time agreeing on a name for our kitty. In fact, her name for kitty for the first few weeks we had her. I finally got tired of explaining that we hadn't picked out a name, so I said, she squeaks, therefore she is Squeaky

Hmm, unique name for a black kitty...in arabic, when you compliment someone who has a beautiful dark skin color, you say that they are asmar (for a male) or somar (for a female). Haven't ever heard a kitty named Asmar before

If your kitty is strong, ra'ad is thunder in arabic, although the husband cautions me that it's usually the name given for a very strong dog, so for just an ordinary kitty, it would be a bit odd.

Welcome!

My husband and I just adopted our 2nd black cat today, and named him Hoshi. His original name was Star, for the small white "star" on his chest, but we decided to be original with it and go with a different language, and a word meaning Star. It was between Hoshi (Japanese) and Asteri (Greek). Hoshi came easiest
Our other black one is Nero (Italian).

Well I know who is coming home with me! I get to pick him up on Saturday. He is a black male, about 2 years old, neutered and up to date on shots.

Still don't have the perfect name for him yet, but I am sure once I meet him something will come to me.

Any other suggestions for names? I am Wiccan, so I am trying to think of something related to my beliefs, or night or something like that.

Thanks! I will post pictures on Saturday of the new boy!

I've always liked the name India (India ink) for a black cat of either sex.

Corwin or Corwyn - Gaelic/Old English derivative meaning 'heart's friend' or 'companion'. There are other meanings for Corwin depending on derivation i.e. Old French = raven, black hair. I like the first meaning better.

Congratulations on your new friend.

I don't know what time I am picking him up, but at least he has a name!! I decided on Nasir after hearing more about his personality and temperment.

I wish it was Saturday!

thank you all for the nice welcomes! My Nasir comes home tomorrow!! I get to pick him up in the afternoon sometime! His room is all set up, litter box ready, food and water out, new toys and beds fluffed.

Anything else I should get ready before going to pick him up? I have to drive an hour home after picking him up, besides a blanket in his carrier, should I bring anything else with? thanks!
