Nursing cat has tapeworms - what can i do?

Hi, I could use any advice on what to do. She is still nursing and I can't give her any medication. I have to wait until the kittens are 7 weeks to give them anything. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! I plan on vacuuming the room and washing the bedding a lot. I'm told I could bath them in Dawn to kill fleas. I don't see any fleas on them, but I know this is the cause. Kittens are 3 weeks old and are doing well. They are all confined to one room. I have 2 other cats in the rest of the house. Mom cat was a stray. She is sooo sweet!! thank you

Did you confirm with your vet that you can't give her Drontal right now for the tapeworms? The tapeworms came originally from fleas, but if you don't see them on her now, the kittens won't pick them up. Rather than bathing the kittens with Dawn, get a flea comb and dip it into a Dawn/water solution particularly if you don't see any obvious fleas on them in the first place. I've taken care of orphaned kittens, and never would give them a normal bath - just sponge baths.

Someone more familiar with nursing moms might have more suggestions.

I'm going to move this to Pregnant Cats & Kittens - perhaps you'll get more responses there.

Thanks for your replies. I'm going to try the sponge baths on kittens and mom cat. I'll ask about Drontal
