Sorry, I do not know what to call them.

First off, Kizzy has had ringworm. It was located on a good portion of his tail.
Secondly, we are going to the vet in 2wks and I will ask them the following question then. IMO it is not a serious prob as I've seen no ill effects.

Petting him, I have felt these "bumps", I had looked at em previously and thought they were just scabs from fighting with the cats he used to live with.
I no longer think that's the case.

They are almost like a pimple in shape/size, with a slight crust on top (looks similiar to a scab but lighter coloured crust). No oozing or anything like that, and Kizzy is not scratching at them, there's fur growing around and on them... I don't know what it could be. But I've noticed there is more than just a couple.... located on his back and neck (I haven't noticed any on his belly or paws).

They are hard to notice because he has thick Ragdoll fur. So if you just give a light stroke of his back, you wouldn't feel them....but if you're giving a scratch, you feel them.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what they may be????

A couple of mine have them, but I believe in my case its fleas. They got some bites because it was cold and I thought there wasn't anymore, but there was. So I was too late with the Frontline. All my guys need is a few bites and they get scabbie.

I don't think its fleas. Every time I've had him at the vets, she's taken a look and we haven't seen any fleas or flea poop on him.

My long haired cat Tigger has that as well....I really am not sure what it is....but I don't recall him having them other than in the winters...I chalked it up to the warm dry air irritating his skin...its around his neck mostly as well...I am curious as to what it is as well

I've searched out feline acne, and the pics don't seem to fit, as well as alot of links say its on the chin area.

Kizzy's chin is fine... these are along his back.

The sores aren't red...I'll try to get a pic later, it'll be difficult LOL.

you asked about Pixel's sores - they're really sores - not scabs, not pimples. the fur comes off - sorta like a cold sore on a person [which makes sense, since that's also a herpes virus].
i usually have feliway going, plus add lysine to her water. when i can afford it, i feed RC special 33, which has lysine added to it - but it's quite pricey!
they don't seem to bother her that much.

Nope, they don't look like Meeko's sores.

Here's the best pic I have:

If you run your fingers along his back you can feel them...they feel "crusty", hard....like a scab that you wanna just pick off...The crust is white/slight yellow/litte red like a scab...

I was just trying to get another pic and noticed if I pulled up the hair that I thought was growing out of it, the crusty spot came with the hair and it came off, leaving a slightly pink area on Kizzy's skin... and the crusty part attached to some hair, on my desk LOL.

I don't know. I don't even know what you would class them as.

But I think I'm eliminating some possibilities...based on the pics I've seen, I don't think they are herpes or acne.

dry skin maybe? I don't know. They are spread out along his back, I felt one along his hind leg... but nothing on the face or ears.

I brought him home in Dec. so I would think that any injuries from the cats he was with (I was told they had bit him) should be healed I would think.

Do you think the ringworm may be coming back?

To me it looks like patches of dry skin. The hair that is growing in that skin is probably unable to fall out (without some coercion) because of the scabby part. I wonder if it's because of the winter weather.

possible... but I doubt it. The ringworm was contained to his tail, and it never looked like these....

Thanks, you could be right. I'm hoping its just something simple like that

When I got the scab loose by lifting the hair, it didn't appear to hurt him or anything...just left a small pink mark underneath. I have noticed some coming off when I brush him too.

He's going to the vet's next week for a recheck and boosters, so I'm going to ask them then.

That looks exactly the same as what my cat Tigger has.....like I said I chalked it up to dry skin....they don't bother mine either....even when I brush or pull them out....

Looks like what my boys get when they have had a bit of a wrestle and got an accidental tiny scratch, or nicked themselves with the tip of a claw when scratching themselves - just a surface nick in the skin that scabs over, when the scab falls off a little tuft of hair comes with it.

If the weather is cold and dry at the moment I wonder if it could be due to static causing minor irritations and dry skin? Some cats seem to have quite a problem with static during certain types of winter weather.

I know this thread is a few years old but what was the answer? What did the vet say? Is there any way to treat it?
