Well I noticed that Snow had been kinda lopping around today. Not wanting to lie on her sides as she usually does. Which is weird for her. So I decided to take a look at her and notice a huge lump on her right side. So fearing for the worse I hop in the car and drive her 3 hours to the only open vet office at the time. The vet tells me it is a cyst in her ovary. And if not operated on it will burst and could kill her. So I am preparing myself for the very worst with her allergies. I give my approval for the surgery. Just praying for the best. I tell the vet of the allergy and he tells me of a type of sedation that will keep her awake but kinda dozy the only way I can describe it. She was all numb. So did not feel a thing. She got spayed. She is doing perfectly fine. She is being kept there until boxing day. Just to give her plenty of time to heal. The kittens are home with me. And we are now giving all of them formula. The vet told me that her milk supply will most likely be non existent now due to the spay. And also said it would be alot safer for Snow to stop bfing as a kitten could rip her stitches. I am so happy she is ok now. And best of all she is no longer in pain and can once again sleep on her sides. Which let me tell you she did as son as she realized she no longer hurt anymore.

Wow, I'm very glad you were able to find a vet that was open, and get her surgery done.

Sounds like she pulled through with flying colours. Must have been quite scary for you though...thanks for sharing your experience.

for Snow to keep on improving

I was scared shitless. Pardon my language.I am just grateful I found an open vet. I almost missed this one as the building was kinda tucked between 2 larger ones. I am actually thinking of switching vets for all our animals. This vet specializes in both cats and farm animals and makes house calls. Not to mention the prices are lower and the hours are way more convenient.

I would be too...Hmmm, sounds like this emergency might be a blessing in the sense that you may have found a better vet. (I'm not downplaying Snow's surgery, just trying to look at the positives)

I am glad that you noticed in time and found a vet who could operate, and I am glad she has now been spayed. Good luck with handrearing the kittens - it isn't true that there wont be any milk after a spay, but she might not appreciate it!!
