I took him in this afternoon after watching his breathing become more and more labored over the past couple of days. Dr. Jones took an x-ray and told me his lungs had filled with fluid and unfortunately they'd also found a spot on his lungs -- Lymphoma.

It's just mind boggling to me how quickly this all happened. She said his kidneys were even larger than the last time (just this past Friday), and that she could make him feel well enough to go home for the day, but inevitably I'd have to bring him back to be pts. I just couldn't watch the poor guy deal with one more setback so I made what I hope was the right decision. I cried, my mom cried, my vet tech Missy cried, Dr. Jones cried.. it was mess! But I know he's no longer hurting. And I really hope that time heals all wounds because right now my heart is broken in about a million pieces.

Signing off to spend time with my other two, who will also miss Jag like crazy.
Thank you all so much for your support, prayers, vibes, and good thoughts. It made the last few days with him that much more special!

I'm crying too! When the time comes for our "babies" to depart this existence, it should be in the caring arms of those who love them and can make the heart wrenching, selfless decision to relieve their pain and send them onto the next life where, one day, all will be reunited.

I know how you feel. I lost two 7 year old kitties since 11/07. The male Nomie was a complete 2-3 day shock as he seemed perfectly healthy and the female Mia had lymphoma and she was sick for about 4 months. Any age is painful but 7 is way too young. So sorry.

I'm sorry for your loss. I know how difficult it is to lose one of our precious kitties. I lost mine less than a month ago, and I'm still in shock and trying to learn all that I can.

I wish you the best.

I am so sorry you lost your kitty so quickly...I had to have one of my special kitties pts last year...it was sooooooo hard. He had FIP, and we could have treated him too, for a while, but the end result would have been the same...so I told them let's do it now, because it wasn't going to be any easier days, or weeks down the road. Sometimes I wish I would have treated him, but I wanted him to be comfortable too, and with his chest and abdominal cavities full of fluid, he just wasn't going to be, no matter what we did. I also had to think of my other two kitties, as FIP is contagious...I didn't have a separate area for my precious Jade...so being pts was probably our best option...even though it still crushed me. Jade was a Balinese, and we all know how devoted they are to their families...didn't care for strangers, but was totally devoted to me (loved hubby too, but not as 'lovey dovey' toward him).
