Hello everyone !

Some of you know i dont have a kitty yet but i am doing some research before hand,

Now ive just read that a kitten will start eating solid food at bout 5 to 6 weeks, but will still take milk from mummy till 3 months ! so what happens to young cats adopted by someone new, do you have to give them something to substitute mums milk or do you just start them on solids ?

Thanks very much

The average kitten can eat regular food by about 8 weeks for sure. Kittens who nurse until they are 3 months are really doing it to help the emotional aspect. If anyone should end up with a kitten not fully weaned, it's a matter of weaning them yourself with KMR or another milk replacer.
