Awhile back I posted about how I experience phantom smells. Usually they are nasty smells like burnt wiring, poo, garbage, or vomit. Well I've been experiencing them again only this time the smells are pleasant. Three times today I've smelled something like fabric softener, so strong I can taste it. All three times occurred at home only in different areas of the house. The smell only lasted for about 30 seconds. Then earlier at the computer desk, I kept smelling something fruity. That lasted about a minute. These occurrences are just so strange.

Wonderful, I was researching phantom smells just now and found that one of the causes can be from psychiatric reasons. Great, I guess this means I'm crazy.
Maybe it's because I have an anxiety issue.

Under the cats, mostly.
I wish phantom smells in our home were pleasant - usually I can track them down to the man sitting opposite me, grinning like a maniac.

In the snow!!!!
Hubby must think I'm nuts b/c sometimes several times a day I will ask him if he smells poo and he never does, so I have to search the house to see if one of the girls has done something that she shouldn't. We have a supposedly apple cinnamon glade plugin in the mud room, I swear up and down that it smells like bubblegum, but no one else thinks so. I think that maybe I just have a broken smeller

Seriously... before you conclude that you're crazy, you've got to eliminate possibl physical causes. Some of them are pretty scary -- please get checked out!

I completely agree with this. Disorders from epilepsy to brain tumors can cause phantom smells.
