Hi!
my 5 year old female himalayan cat has been throwing up for two days now, 4 times yesterday, and 4 times today. shes been thowing up food and also water with white bubbles in it (and grass). ive noticed that shes eating alot of grass (should i stop feeding grass?) and that her poop smells more. but she is still playing and eating although she dropw her food alot. im feeding her hairball cream so that it will help her throw up whatever is the problem.
Is this normal? How many times does a cat throw up each day? and is she trying to throw up a hairball?
*IS THIS DANGEROUS?*

Thankyou!!

Has she eaten anything new? (new foods, new flavors, or table scraps?)

She drops food? What do you mean - it falls out of her mouth?

Any other symptoms? (tired, limp, hiding?) Is the cat pooping and peeing?

I think that grass in excess can make a cat throw up....best to limit their access to it so they don't binge. It could also be due to any food changes.

There are some harmful causes of throwing up...ate something poisonous, something lodged in the intestine, illness, etc (could she have injested part of a plant or cleaning stuff?).......probably best to consult a vet if she's still throwing up tomorrow. If she seems otherwise completely normal (besides puking) and she has either eaten a ton of grass or had a food change recently, I'd take away the grass and start only feeding her small portions of her regular food every 3 hours in order to help her get her tummy settled.

Dear NovemberFlowers, thankyou for your reply!
Yes she is pooping and peeing eating drinking normal. Yes pieces of food falls from her mouth after she bites them to small pieces
she only started puking after i had mopped the floor yesterday, Do you think this is the cause?
Do you think i should let her eat the grass so she can throw up anything lodged or bad for her?

Was she throwing up before the mopping of the floor??? If she wasn't I would think its time for a vet visit! They can get into that poisonous stuff and it can do bad things!! Grass can make them sick too though! My cat BooBoo will eat it and throw up, and eat it and throw up! He just likes it, but he really can't tolerate it!

Is it dangerous to throw up alot (like in diorhea its dangerous because loose water) ?

Yes, too much vomiting can cause dehydration.

Are there no emergency vets you can go to today? or at least call. Or if you don't mind paying for the call, look on the bottle of whatever cleaner you used to mop with. There should be a number for poison control (or someone else may have that # handy?).

Thankyou all for your replies!
The thing is that she she is eating and drinking fine. It seems that all is normal and that i have used the mopping cleaner many times before and she has never had a problem with it (same with my other cat).
There are emergency clinincs but at this our they charge an extra 1000 and i cannot afford it.
but thankyou very much for your suggestions

ive taken pillo to the vet yesterday. pillo is needed for an x ray. when the vet was explaining the x ray she said that her intestines are swollen and have shifted forwards, and also is gas in her intestine and stomach. pillo is currently under surgery to see what the problem is.
I am so afraid this is cancer, i cannot explain this feeling of wanting to throw up.
thankyou all so much for you replies!
how likely do you think this is cancer?

Sending lots of vibes that the surgery goes well and it won't be something major. Best wishes for a quick recovery....please let us know what the vet says.

Thankyou guys for all your prayers!!!
i have just called up the vet and she said that pillo has infection of the spleen but it is in the early stages. she says the infection is fatal but she is at the early stages of it, but it is rare that it will cause vomitting. another thing she noticed is that her liver is scarred which may have been caused by previous infections. pillo has never had a liver infection before though!?
Pillo will have to stay at the vet until she recovers and will be medicated through transfusion by blood.
this is her first time away from home but she is a very brave girl and has been very strong!
**Stay strong and brave sweetheart!!! I LOve you!!**

Hey Matthew, I am requesting that your post be moved by one of the moderators as this is an old thread from 2008 (or you just start a new post with your own topic, and therefore your own thread). Your kitties deserve a thread of their own to get the help they need. This will probably get lost in the shuffle otherwise. Going forward I would suggest you just start your own topics in the appropriate forum areas for them.

Mods, ya can delete my post if you want.
