Christy...right up my alley!!! 80's bands - got to love them! So.....tell me a little about the 80's (I think I'll stay away from the immune system for tonight). BTW: you are not trailing far behind me! You'll catch up and pass me in no time.

My favorite obscure '80's band...Anything Box. They had a hit with "Living in Oblivion". The female member of the band, Dania, lived in my dorm freshman year a floor below me. Many of my friends were thanked on their first CD (although not me...sob), and we got to see them many times at Rutgers before they hit it big.

OK, obscure '80's band question...who sang "88 lines about 44 women"?

*Yikes* I didn't catch the 'obscure' part! I have no idea who sang that.... I remember the 80's as: Prince, Journey, Supertramp, Boy George
, Poison etc....

Christy, the floor is all yours. Tell us!

"88 lines about 44 women" was sung by The Nails.

Sorry, an ex was a DJ who had an 80's radio show on the local university station. Whether I wanted to or not, I learned a lot about lesser known bands.

And by the way, I LOVE Boy George. My parents got two tickets to a Culture Club concert for my 15th birthday, that were in the second to last row at the old Capital Center in Washington DC. My Dad took me (I don't know how he lived through it), and it is one of the best memories I have of spending time with Dad.

Boy George did a cover of "The Crying Game" for the soundtrack for the movie The Crying Game (in the 90's), and it is one of my favorite songs.

Yep...Boy George was VERY popular in my high school years. We all loved him. Except for all the boys in the 'cool' bands. That must have been quite the night, being up close like that.

The only concert I remember going to when i was younger is: Olivia Newton John (Let's get Physical) Remember the bandana years??? And the crumpled socks? And the sweat bands around our wrists??? I just loved her then....and I think I still do. She was awesome! Plus....Grease wil always be my all time favorite movie. I'd watch that over and over again.

Oh, yeah.

It's always fun to "mess" with the younger people I work with, talking about the fads of my "youth". Neon clothes, rubber bracelets, Madonna wear (crosses and lace gloves), and wearing your V-neck sweaters backwards (my later high school years).

My favorite "when the heck were you born" story....One afternoon in our lab (a few years ago), we were listening to the local Mix station (80's, 90's, 70's and today, as the commercial goes). A Pat Benetar song came on the radio (Shadows of the Night), and our (very young) undergrad said "Oh, I like this. Who sang it?" I answered "Pat Benetar", and she said "Pat who?" Let's just say she didn't live it down for the rest of the time she was in the lab (because besides her, I was the youngest person in the lab).

Grease rules! Have you ever seen Grease II (with a very young Michelle Phiffer)?

I don't know - I think the Gabby Canuck title is mine - We start thinking about challengers when another Canadian gets over 3000 posts!

Ghys - great job posting - maybe you will catch up to me!
