And these are all of my black beauties that I have now - Maverick, Geronimo, & Spencer:

How can anyone NOT love a black cat?!

That's a lovely list.

Crumbles, Biscuits, Socks and Rascal were all black with white tummys. Weirdly enough none of them lived to an old age which is kind of scary

Black cats are one of my favorites. I had always wanted one, but we couldn't get any cats because our dog didn't like other animals, so when Max and Jasmine (R.I.P sweet angel) were born I was very happy!

Max is a tuxedo and I also have Buddy who is a tux too. I would like to adopt an all black kitty someday when I don't have as many...who knows maybe one will find me. (they always seem to
)

People who don't like them don't know what they are missing out on.

I have a black cat and shes such a sweety.
I hate that black cats have such a negative stigma attached to them.

Just curious - did any of them have cancer? My vet says black animals of most species are more likely to get cancer.

My black rabbit died of lung cancer this year.

My black cat is 10 yrs old and has 2 forms of cancer.
There's nothing that can be done, but keep him comfortable.

I don't know how true that is, but I hope it's not..

Foxy was all black, and he lived to be 14: he developed a brain tumor..
I'm not sure how old Shadow was (I got him from the animal shelter, and they didn't know) but I think he was 13 when he crossed over.

Maverick is now almost 13, and appears to be in very good health. Geronimo & Spencer are still just babies (Geronimo is a year & a half old, and Spencer is a little over a year old), but Geronimo does have the dry FIP. I hope that's not a bad sign..
But Winchester has it too, and he's all tan colored..

I really don't think it matters what color they are. I myself have had more problems w/ tan colored cats than any other...

I'm actually surprised to hear that there is really a stigma regarding black cats. It's sad that people can be so stupid.

I haven't been adopted by a black cat since becoming an adult, but the cat that made me a cat lover was black. He was a huge black semi-feral cat that we found in our yard as a child. We named him Midnight. He adopted us and came and went while we lived in a rural area, and was the bane of all the dogs in the neighborhood
. When we moved to the city we took him with us, but he got very depressed at being a mostly indoor cat. My parents ended up finding a home for him with a very kind farmer where he could come and go as he pleased.

Those are all great reasons!

Neither of my girls are black, but I fostered a wonderful litter of 5 all black kittens a few years ago...they were absolutely precious!

my black cat is the most affectionate cat ever... I don't see how anyone wouldn't want a cat exactly like him even if he does only have one eye!

thats interesting, my black cat had cancer in his eye and they had to remove it... see my post above. I had no idea that black animals were prone to this, all the more reason to give them love!

Black cats have always been my favorites!

My brother says he likes them because he doesn't have to worry about cat hair on his clothes, since most of his wardrobe is black and grey!

I think I would rather have a cat with one eye than both... The kitty with one eye doesn't have as good of a rate of adoption as the one with two eyes... IDK, I love black kittys and kitties of all colors, but if there's something wrong with them its all the better!
