If you were going to make a candlelight dinner for your significant other, what would you make? I am thinking about making one for my boyfriend tonight since its just us for the night. I am not the best cook, so I wouldn't want anything too complicated.

Over the river and through the woods...
If your man is anything like mine, I would suggest a good steak, broiled in the oven with baked potato (I do the potato in the microwave) with a nice salad. We usually season our steaks with pepper and garlic salt, but use whatever you want. Best cut for steaks, IMO, are t-bone, porterhouse, NY strip, but they can get expensive. Bottom round steaks are good broiled, just cut it into sections. Also, flank steak is good too, and much cheaper.

If he doesn't like steak, chicken breasts cooked in italian dressing is good. Do this on the stove top in a skillet with a lid. Just put the breasts in, poke them with a fork and pour italian dressing over them on medium heat. Cover and let simmer. Keep turning them, and pour more dressing...basically, they will end up boiling. You will know they are done when they start falling apart when you try to turn them. This is great with some pasta on the side ( I use Rice-a-Roni angle hair pasta garlic and herbs). Again, I suggest a salad. Need to get all the food groups in.

That chicken sounds really good. I was thinking about barbecuing steaks and baked potatoes because he loves that. The seasoning I put on my steak comes out of a package. I used to work at Subway and they had a garlic pepper steak sub and there was a ton of leftover seasoning so she gave it to some of the employees.

I'm a huge italian food fan....probably because my granny's italian, I also like wine a lot
Anyway.... my fancy dinners are always a pasta of sorts, grilled shrimp, and bread and oil.

Pasta's are always pretty easy and you can put anything you want in it, chicken, veggies, steak, crab (my fav), whatever floats your boat!

Chicken parmesan is pretty easy

4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
2 cups pasta sauce
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
2 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
4 cups hot cooked spaghetti

Directions:

PLACE chicken in 2-qt. shallow baking dish. Top with pasta sauce. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.

BAKE at 400°F. for 25 min. or until done. Sever on a bed of spaghetti

We ended up making dinner together. He made chicken with swiss cheese and ham rolled in bread crumbs
and I made mashed potatoes and caesar salad (which was a starter) and we had strawberry wine.
