I had my female cat neutered the other day. Problem is that when I brought her home, my male neutered cat started hissing at her. Now this I expected, but it is carrying on. My female cat is absolutely petrified now. I even found her hiding in the Litter tray! I thought the male cat would get used to her smell again, but it doesnt seem to be happening. Before they would happily play together and I dont think she can understand why her friend is suddenly hissing at her, What do I do?

Anytime cats come home after spending time at the vet's (especially for surgery) they will be "strangers". Since she just got spayed, you can't give her a bath. So I suggest you try:

1. Sprinkle both cats with some cornstarch baby powder and rub it in their coats so they smell the same.

2. Put a dab of vanilla extract on their noses.

Keep them separated for a day or two and then reintroduce them. You don't want her to be afraid of using the litter pan cause of him!
