Guess what I get next week!

I get a 4-day weekend!!!

My workplace is closed on Thursday and Friday for Jewish holidays (I'm not Jewish, but most of my co-workers are). So I get the days off with pay.

I'm so excited. I'm trying to figure out what I should do. It would be a great opportunity to get out of town for a few days.

LOL awesome !! We have next Friday off of school too so I'm looking forward to it.

Lucky you

I used to work in a law firm and those of us who were not Jewish felt cheated

A large portion of the office staff were Jewish and would take the Jewish holidays off. Those of us who weren't Jewish had to go in and work.

However, when it came to Christian holidays like Easter and Christmas and New Years, they closed the office and everyone, including those who were Jewish, got the days off.

The reason for that is because the courts were closed on Christian holidays but not Jewish ones, as were most other companies.

I felt it was a double standard, but I wasn't in charge of the company.
