Feline Heartworm Disease

I know there's recently been a thread about putting cats on heartworm preventative.... well I just got back from the vet (dog's annual check up - plus a bit of catch-up time with our favorite vet, Dr. Kathy ) and they actually had a poster that said "A new breakthrough study shows that cats are suffering lung damage due to feline heartworm disease. Is your cat at risk?" I was quite happy to see that "they" are finally recognizing that feline heartworm IS an issue and pet owners do need to be informed and then allowed to make their own decison

Good! I'm glad to hear this.

Feline heartworm is Proportionally rare compared to canine... I happen to live in a area that contains parts of three states and only 3 cases of Canine heartworm have been seen in the last 5 yrs... NO CAT cases
