What diet? I don't see where you say what you are doing, just what you aren't (eat right for your blood type diet)

Unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the
my nutrition is good, and getting better I think.

I have been mostly vegetarian for a few years and recently decided to go mostly vegan.
This is mostly for ethical / environmental / religious reasons though. And it only applies to food that I buy myself. If I eat at someone else's place, I eat whatever is offered.

I rarely eat any processed food and I am trying to increase my intake of organic food.
Mostly right now I am experimenting with the whole vegan thing and adding as much variety to my diet as possible. I need to do some research.
(anyone know of a good vegan nutrition book?)

My nutrition has improved a lot over the last couple of years. Due to some health issues I really had to reevaluate my diet and make some serious changes.

I still have a weakness for ice-cream but other then that am very health conscious. I have found that the improvement in how I feel and my energy levels has made it easy to stick to the more nutritious diet.

Yes, the animals diets are just about perfect!

As for ours, I watch mine really close for the most part, my husband also watches his too.
The household is full of healthy and organic foods, no corn syrup, no chips, no soda in the house. What you will find is 100% fruit drinks, home made tea, lots of fresh fruits and veggies - whole grain breads, pastas, rice, and cereals. Only oil in the house is EV olive oil. Lots of fish and lean meat, when prepared they are mostly grilled. Skim milk and yogurts. We don’t add sugars or salts to often anything, we stay away from artificial sweeteners or preservatives if at all possible, if he uses sugar it is raw sugar. We try to stay away from processed foods.

We love eating this way; we use a lot of spices and never feel deprived. Our whole wheat waffles on weekend mornings consist of egg whites and organic apple sauce instead of high fat oil. We use only real maple syrup too and add lots of fresh whole berries, nutmeg, walnuts, and cinnamon.

We are young and very healthy and active, no health problems in the household
but we figure so much is linked to diet why not try to do the best we can and hope it will pay off in the future.

I would rather eat something natural than stuff made in a lab as a substitute. In one thread on this forum someone said fake butter is one molecule away from plastic. Hopefully that person will see this, as I can't remember exactly what they said, but it did confirm my thoughts on real vs. fake butter.

i used to not worry about what I ate or how much (or little) but not now. Part of it was being concerned over what Ping eats. And now he is on good healthy food. The other part was I was always tired and weighed 160lbs and my weight was not budging. Now I eat a lot better. Lots of veggies, fruits, whole grain carb and protein. I also cut caffeine and sugary drinks. Just water and milk for me. And I eat roughly 1400-1500 a day now instead of 800. Because of this in little over a month I weigh 146.

I'm definitely not the healthiest eater in the world. I love grabbing food from Quiznos or Sonic or some place, or eating out somewhere rather than cooking something healthy for myself. And I LOVE chocolate stuff.

I've been better about what we eat. We are eating out pretty much on Friday nights only, so that definitely is helping.

I try to buy fewer processed foods. More whole grains, veggies & fruit. We try to stick to leaner meats. We both love shrimp, so we make that sometimes too.

And sometimes we fall off the wagon and have a week where DH & I polish off a batch of chocolate chip cookies (from scratch, Nestle Tollhouse recipe).

I like to think I eat healthy. I read the food labels of everything I buy. I don't buy/eat anything with trans fats, or too much saturated fat and I try to buy "fat free" when I can (I refuse to eat fast food). I only eat whole grain bread (no white or refined wheat) and try to eat lots of fruits and vegetables. I also try to choose chicken or fish over red meat (though steak is my weakness). I keep an eye on my portion sizes. Other than a high fat intake, I think that huge portion sizes are the biggest problem in the American diet....most people don't even realize how small a portion size is.

I guess it also helps that I don't like sweets. Yes, that's right, I don't like chocolate, or candy (I'm wierd). Candy, ice cream, and other sweets sit in my house forever because I never have a craving for them.

Unfortunately, because I work full time in addition to 8 credits at school, it sometimes leads me to make poor food choices, but for the most part I think I eat well.

I can give you an excellent recipe for what I renamed Pat's Magic Puffies..it has enough texture and chew to remind one of bread, but has no grains - made of beaten egg whites, egg yolks, softened cream cheese and cream of tartar (smidge) wonderful for "sandwiches" etc. I can't keep them in the house when I've made a batch, they are really good.

Yum...can you get (sorry, yes, this is a second reply to this message) Shelton Brand turkey products? Their breakfast links and round patties, and Italian sausages, and ground turkey are excellent. If you google for them, they do have a website so you can get ingredients details etc.
Glad things are going well for you

Ok, I'll admit it...... I'm a junkfood freak

I eat WAY more carbs then I should

The kids and cats eat 10 times better then me... I'm a pepsi, coffee and cheeto addict...

By the time I'm done working 2 jobs everyday and then cooking dinner for everyone else, I'm too tired to sit down and enjoy it.

We spent nearly a hundred bucks on Cat food at Petsmart on our shopping trip today, and for dinner we had McDonalds....

That gives ya a hint as to how my nutrition is in comparison to my babies.

(Although normally I eat better than average!)

We're about equal. I have 3 FeLv+ cats, & 2 older ones, so I am very good with feline nutrition. My goal is to keep the FeLv+ guys' immune systems in good shape (no problem there--they eat like horses!). I give the 2 old ones a liquid vitamin supplement made for older cats.

I myself have health problems (diabetes & severe anemia), so I have to make sure my diet is nutritionally balanced, as well. I don't each as much red meat (for the anemia) and fruit as I should (I dislike fruit; it's too sweet); but I do keep to a low-fat, high fiber, low-sugar, high in veggies diet, and drink lots of water. My real vice (allowable on a diabetes diet) is diet soda. I don't drink anywhere near the limit, but I still wonder if artificial sweeteners are good for us. My other (NOT allaowable in great amounts on a diabetes diet) vice would be chocolate; the real stuff, not sugar-free!
