Hello together,

my name is Jasmin and I'm from Germany. I'm new in this forum and my English is not so good, sorry.

I'm still so sad because my adored tom cat Toby died on 28th February 2007. He was 12 years old and a loveable tom cat with a strong character. He was so nice and had the talent to be funny and originally. I got him from a friend when he was 4. At the beginning he was very anxious and shy. We were not the best friends because he wasn't allowed to sleep in the bedroom. So every night he stood in front of the bedroom-door und made noise and I couldn't sleep. After he while I allowed him to sleep in my bed - he was so happy. In the course of time we were very good friends and I loved him so much. He was more an more not so shy and he changed from a shy tom cat to a brave and funny tom cat. In the course of time I loved him more and more. But then he was more and more thin. The vet told me that that was normal because he was not so young yet. And although he a little bit thiner he ate and made a healthy impression. But then I found blood in the cat toilet. I went with him to the vet and he x-ray him and found vesical tumor. I went with him to a hospital and they tried to operate his bladder. But it gone bad. A week later he died in the hospital. I had a feeling like in a nightmare. It was incredible for me that he was no more at my side. Never again. I cried so often and tried not to eliminate my feeling. I was in a German cat forum and there whrere many nice people. But at the moment I'm again very sad. I miss my Toby so much. A consolation is my little cat micky.

Sad greetings from Jasmin from Germany

I'm very sorry for your loss
I'm not sure if this is a great suggestion, but when someone loses a pet, alot of the times they get another one..sort of to fill the void, it sometimes makes them happy and takes their mind off the pet they just lost.

I do understand how you feel. You will never stop missing your Toby but in time you will be able to remember the happy memories.

Rest in peace sweet Toby.

Thank you very much! I' so happy that here in this forum are so understandingly and lovely people.

There are different phases of my sadness for Toby. At the beginning it was a feeling like in a nightmare. Then there was a big and heavy sadness. Sometimes a feeling as if I'm not in the real world. Then it was a little bit better and I could watch his pictures and I thought now it will be better and better. But at the moment there es the strong sadness again. Yesterday I was at his grave in the forrest. I cried so much.

Roimata, many thanks for your suggestion. I think it would be a good idea. But I have my cat Micky and she doesn't like any other cats. Micky is 12 years old and has hcm (a heart disease) and I don't want to make her life stressful .

I hope I found the right words in English.

Best wishes
Jasmin from Germany

Believe me it gets easier as time goes by, dont worry. And for the whole buying another cat thing. It doesnt need to be a cat.....perhaps a dog? Or a bunny? Any little animal can lift your spirits
