So I recently dyed my hair dark brown. It was too dark so I tried to lighten it up a few shades. Now right on the crown of my head seems greasy. Even right after I wash it. What will make it be normal again?

There is your problem! Pantene Pro-V is a highly waxed based product which causes a coating on the cuticle and hair shaft, the wax base also prohibits it from proper cleansing because it is actually causing build-up (and even color penetration)! As for Herbal Essence haircolor stay away from it (if you can, unless it has been reformulated since 2001)... Most of it is a metallic compound which is not only damaging to the hair but it cannot be color corrected with professional products... Professional color lines are an alkaline compound and when an alkaline and metallic compound mix it cause a chemical reaction. Some metallic things include Sun-In, Henna, Herbal Essence Hair color, etc! Avoid metallic dyes (in general) because if you make a mistake it is almost impossible to do a magnificent color correction! I would suggest seeking a professional!
What did you do to lighten the color? Note that color cannot be removed by color, it needs to be lifted with a bleach or in combination of a highlift color! In some situations hair will become greasy if the color has not been fully shampoo'd out! I have encountered this many times! You should do a full shampoo with scalp massage at least two times when rinsing!

Funny though, your not the first person who said it was no good... What shampoo/conditioner do you recommend?
My favorite product lines are TIGI Bedhead, they also have a new wonderful line... The S-Factor line (some sulfate free shampoos which rid off the harshness all shampoos have, lowers the ph), I also like TIGI Catwalk, Matrix (Biolage), Nexxus, Redken (love the Extreme), and Kenra... My top fav's at the moment! I don't use store bought shampoo's... Most are wax based and some are really high on the ph scale! Of course you will pay more for professional products but they are worth it (I am lucky and get them at wholesale cost because I am licensed).Originally Posted by Roxie225

Wow that sounds so gross! I might be switching shampoo very soon!Originally Posted by trixie23
That is the wax based coating that is giving it a "soft appeal". Wax is not good for your scalp (it causes buildup, and follicle blockage) I once was able to view my scalp under a microscope (Nioxin product line class I took) it was amazing to see the buildup and all of the effects styling aids produce on our scalps. Many times if the shampoo has minimal cleansing agents all it is doing is mushing up the buildup on your scalp and then hardening again, it is not actually cleansing the issue away!
So you started off light blonde/brown and then just dyed it black? Or where you dying it a color and it grabbed darker than it was suppose to (resulting in almost black)? Then I am assuming the "almost black" was too dark and you tried to lighten it? Did it lighten at all? It really shouldn't have since you tried removing color with color (which does not work)?Originally Posted by Phenomsmom
It was a store bought brand I went from light blondish brown to almost black. The next dye didn't do much. (herbal essences) I have used pantene for years and dyed my hair several times while using it.
Arr I wrote a whole paragraph for you and it just got erased!Originally Posted by GoldenKitty45
I'll be getting my hair colored red again in 2 weeks. So I should be using the Nexxus products? Which ones in particular? Is the Bio ones ok?
