That's just wrong.
But...Taylor Hicks won, so I don't too much confidence in the results meaning anything. What is this...season six? Of the winners, how many are stars? Obviously Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and I guess you would have to include Chris Daughtry, but I never hear of the others doing much. Maybe in types of music I don't listed to...I dunno??? I heard Fantasia perform earlier this year on the show and she is obviously very talented, but like I said, it's not a type of music I listen to. I only have CDs by two of the performers...Kelly Clarkson and Chris Daughtry. A friend gave me one by Clay, but I tossed it. (she didn't like it either)
I'm sorry, but I think this is another wasted year. I still would have liked to hear more by the guy that looked like Fidel Castro in the auditions.

I am totally stunned by Melinda getting booted tonight, she was the best singer beside Latisha. People are tone deaf if you ask me, the best singer just went off tonight. Now I am rooting for Blake, I just don't like Jordan at all and I never did....GO BLAKE. She can sing but she is no idol, not someone I can look up too or idolize in any way, shape or form.

I voted for Bo Bice but didn't buy his CD either. Maybe next time I get free CDs from BMG.
Carrie, Chris, and Elliott have all around great CD's. Taylor's CD is good only if you like that style of music, and I do. There's no question why it's not doing better though. It's tough to sell that style. Bo's CD...pretty bad. His single "The Real Thing" is the only good song on the album. We wanted him to win but we're happy that Carrie did now. She was definately the better choice.

I agree Melinda was the best singer TECHNICALLY. But, she sounds like she's 40, and has too much of a Tina Turner vibe going on. Sometimes I think it comes down to not just who people think is the best singer, but who they think they could hear on the radio, and I don't think many could hear her on the radio.
....and I completely just realize that my above statement completely doesn't explain Taylor Hicks winning

I'm with you on that one! He is coming in concert by us this summer and as much as I like the CD I will probably end up going! Taylor Hicks never should have got the win!
Like Reeses said, while technically Melinda was likely the best singer, she wouldn't be the favorite of the what is probably the largest voting block....teenage girls. You know...those same folks who kept the Hair in the running for as long as they did. Maybe the VFTW people factor in too, I don't know.
In retrospect, Carrie Underwood did turn out to be the right choice over Bo Bice, although I still liked his voice better. I guess if you don't have the songs though, it makes no difference HOW good you sound.
Sometimes there is just something about someone that doesn't click. As bad a choice as I think Taylor was, I couldn't stand McP even more.
