Hi! I'm looking into switching vets and was wondering if anyone and everyone out there had some suggestions as to what I should ask a potential new doctor.

I know that most importantly I should be able to take a tour of the clinic/hospital and that it should be clean. The staff should be friendly, but how do I get into the nitty-gritty like asking about how they feel about raw/home-cooked diets or how they feel about the reported dangers about certain annual vaccines or even what types (dry/wet) or brands of foods they recommend - without offending them or leading them to answer a certain way? Another important question is about declawing - if they promote it, I certainly do not want to be there.

My current vet is very caring and loves animals. His staff is excellent and they aren't too pricey or try to sell you everything in the book. But they are not too close to home and the vet always recommends Hill's Prescription Diets first when there is a problem (i.e. gastrointestinal, weight loss, etc.).

There is a doctor right next to my house - I can walk there - who has a special interest in felines. She even used to breed Persians. I went this morning, but she was not in until 10am - I had to work so I took her card.

So I'm hoping you can help me gather a list of questions I can discuss with her or any other potential vet as I search the town.

Thanks!!!
