Need advive

I have a 10 year old cat named Kenny - recently he developed a UTI and has been on antibiotics for about 6 of the 10 day perscribed. My question is this - he seems to be bouncing back from infection, BUT he has no interest in eating. I called the vet and they are just very vague and want 8 million tests done. Do I go with the tests right away or wait to see if he bounces back?? Has anyone else ever experiened this with their cat before?? He seems to be coming around but very slowly. Any advice would be appreciated.

UTI's can sometimes take a few treatments to resolve, but I would be concerned about the not eating. It could be something more than the infection. I wouldn't say to jump into the million tests, but I would at least have them get some blood and do a CBC and Chemistry panel to make sure everything is okay.
