Please, please, please... have we done the right thing?
I have to say the response time was slow from by nauture but it was the fact they sent me over to the nutrition person ... I will be trying them thru Pat as soon as I can... No locals stores have the cat ... the Dog all meat is well received here
when I use it in the mix ...I am not trilled with there dry since barley and wheat are "kissing cousins" or the organ meat in a dry but overall it looks Good...

I like NB
.. now if the girls did

other than fish

Natura is NOT made by Menu it also doesn't have wheat and corn in it. Please show me where it says that Natura is made my Manu? It's an organic/holistic food that's made out of natural people grade food. I am not sure if you are mixing this with something else. I feed Innova Puppy to my 9 weeks old puppy the rest of the animals are now on Canidae/Felidae.

Well I went through the kitten canned food and I have some of the Natura feed so I am taking that back to exchange for Felidae ONLY. I am thinking to continue using puppy food by Natura Innova. My adult dog is on Canidae as of today. I wish I knew that Natura used Menu for their canned food. Ah I feel like I am on a rollercoaster.
The lady at the store said if I don't want to use Natura for my puppy to bring it back for full refund so I am debating right now. The puppy really likes that food and as far as canned food they are leaving our house tomorrow and I am sticking to Filadae/Canidae ONLY for ALL my animals. I am sick of all this it's making my head spin and I am just worried sick for my animals. When is this going to stop?

read that it should confirm for you...

NO DRY FOOD ( other than a rx from hills ) have been recalled .... 90% of drys are made by the company named on the bag
... and thus the standards for dry are much better than third party ...

We're still feeding Nutro and Special Kitty dry foods. We tried to not feed wet at all and had the start of a war on our hands. We ended up getting 9 lives and Friskies with no wheat gluton in it at all. A majority of our cats hate loaf style foods with a passion so some are on a food strike. The only good thing I can think of is we're feeding the outdoor gang the 9lives plus they catch their own food. So I don't feel too bad about that.

Well I took my cats off of dry food just prior to the recall...so this all sort of put me in a difficult spot. I fed the occasional Nutro pouch but that was the only recalled item that my cats had been eating at all...but very rarely.

Economics and availability pose a problem for me. It's not cheap to feed 8 cats an entirely "wet" diet, but by getting everything locally and sticking mostly to the "big" cans, it's not bad. If I tried to cut out all MENU related foods, then it would get quite expensive...probably to the point of forcing me back to some dry food, and I don't want to do that.

I do make a point to avoid ALL wheat gluten..and of course all items that have been recalled.

With that said, we're still rotating between our usual brands ...Innova/California Natural/EVO, Eagle Pack, Wellness, Felidae, Nature's Variety canned and raw, Merrick's, Nutro MAX/NC, and Natural Balance. To avoid MENU entirely, I'd have to limit that to Merrick's and NB, and that's not going to happen.

I am avoiding wheat gluten. I make sure my canned foods do no have wheat gluten and I am currently in the process of switching my cats from Royal Canin Special 33 to California Natural. Royal Canin contains wheat gluten and they do use Menu Foods plus they have a lawsuit against them for vitamin D overdose.

Tailer was the only one who was eating the recalled food...Nutro pouches. I took him off right away, and we had his blood tested. Thank God, it came back fine.

The rest of the food we were feeding were ProPlan canned and a bit of Nutro dry. The Nutro dry doesn't have wheat gluten, so I'm not worried about that, but the ProPlan canned all contains wheat gluten. I tried to switch them to a canned without wheat gluten, but they've rejected pretty much everything I could find. (They really only like chunks and gravy style food, and most of that was recalled or has wheat gluten.) I'm now trying to convert them to Nature's Variety raw medallions, but that's probably going to be a slow process for everyone but Forest.

are all of them chunks & gravy or just certain flavors? i looked on the website and couldn't tell.

i'm still waiting for my Fromm samples. i really hope the guys like it, because i can tell they miss their shreds in gravy. and it's about the only thing i've found that's all natural shreds in gravy, and no wheat gluten.

to the OP, i am about going nuts with all of this. i've changed what the cats eat. (dry and canned) i have Friskies and FF in gravy in the closet, but i don't even want to give them to the shelter kitties.
even my husband has been a little worried. when it all first came out that was the first thing he asked--if i fed the guys anything on the recall. i almost did, but they didn't eat the 1 can of recalled stuff i had put out.
they pulled their finicky routine, and it saved the day.

Well I just came back from the store. I have returned all wet kitten food made by Natura and exchanged that for Felidae wet food. So I am now 100%on Felidae for cats, Canidae for 8 year old dog and Innova dry for 9 week old puppy. I think I should be able to sleep at night now.

Personally, my cats and I were not directly affected by the recall, as they're fed raw, BUT my work (good timing!) just came out with out own pre-made raw, which I'm switching them to, as I KNOW my boss is super careful and I can trust every detail of its production is safe.

i just hope those fromm samples get here soon. i don't want to order a case before i know if they like it. they can be pretty finicky.

That's great Sharky! With this recall stuff, I was about ready to give in and make it myself as even with raw, leaving the production to someone else is a scary thing it seems! But then my boss "let the cat out of the bag" and told us this new food was on its way. It's great stuff (NO veggies for kitties! Woohoo!) We tried it for the first time two days ago and both Nya and Buddy LOVED it. I'll have to post the details on it to see what you and others think

My cats are healthier then they've ever been so I haven't changed a thing. I do, however, keep updated on any news regarding the pet food recall, just to be safe. I feed Nutro dry (not made at Menu) and Innova Evo wet (made at Menu but not on recall, not made in a plant involved in recall and no grain food).
