Well in the grocery store this really thin lady just kept staring at me no matter what I did. I went down isle she did she was following me all over the place.

They she came up to me and no warning put her hands on my belly scaring the crud out of me and asked me Are you pregnant ... I said nope I just drank 3 cases of beer in the parking lot. She let go and said oooooooo you are big when ya do I said anytime now bye she precedded to keep following me with 5 kids of her own and she said can I feel the baby I said no that makes me uncomfortable. She said well ya look mighty far along. I said GOODBYE very sturn to her.

I feel so bad that I snapped and basically was a smart@$$ to her. Do you all think so to...
Oh god please do NOT feel bad for the way you reacted. No stranger has any right to come up to you and do that without first asking!! That makes me so
mad and im not even pregnant! Even with my own aunts i asked first, because i knew they would have people doing the same thing to them.

its almost as bad as those strangers (mainly grandparents) who give you their advice when your child is screaming in public!!!

Wednesday when I went in the office the nurse said that Nancy the lady who felt the kick left her appt grinning from ear to ear they said it was nice of me and it gives her hope this time. I felt good about that...

But that lady heck no she freaked me out ALOT...
Awe that is such a sad, bitter sweet story. You are so kind!

Yea, I would feel uncomfortable if it was my sister even. My good friend is preggo right now (about 6 months) and I've known her for 2 years and I'm not even comfortable asking...it just seems like such an invasion of space.

I can't wait to have children... I've already decided my course of action in this situation... I'll very calmly stick my hand onto their face and wiggle my fingers. Kind of like my boyfriend's cat pressing his nose against yours and following your face.

Nothing like some germy hand oils on someone's nicely moisturized face.

Then there will be punching.

A co-worker of mine is pregnant, and I HAVE had the urge to rub her belly... but would NOT ever do that. It's darn creepy! I did tell her the other day, "Just FYI, I have this strange urge to touch your stomach." She said, "Oh, you can," and I said, "No, I'm not gonna, I just wanted you to know I had the URGE to, haha," -- even with permission I can NOT imagine doing that to someone.

If anyone just reaches out and fondles my belly, I will just reach around and grab their backside.

If I get into conversation with someone and the baby's kicking, and they want to feel that and I'm comfortable with them, that's fine. And if I have close friends who want to rub my belly for good luck or anything crazy, that's fine too! But strangers touching me - I'll teach them a lesson and make sure they don't do it again
I don't know about that- when I was in my last trimester, I had enough trouble reaching my own backside!

But seriously, the fact that she was staring and following you around would have freaked me out, let alone the coming up and touching you out of the blue!
I really didn't mind if someone touched my tummy, but anyone who did usually asked first and was really polite and respectful about it (unless it was a really close family member, like my sister or mom- they already knew I didn't mind it, though
When you've tried for 11 years to get pregnant, you have to resist the urge to grab stranger's hands and put them on your belly and say "Feel! The baby is kicking (has the hiccups, etc.)!" LOL
).

I think you handled it well, especially considering the freaky part of it

I agree with the others, you were too nice. People are strange!

Imagine if that same woman went up to someone and touched their belly to find out they weren't pregnant.

I have never had the urge to touch a pregnant woman's belly. (Pregnant kitty bellies I do love to touch!)

I lurk at another site and this issue came up. One person said they's get a Tshirt with "Touch my belly and you'll pull back a stump...".

Now pregnant kitty tummies are a whole 'nother thing! If you touch a pregnant kitty's tummy and she doesn't want it touched, you just may pull back a nub!

Our momma kitties always enjoyed the belly rubs - especially those last few days when they look so miserable.

It's amazing how some people think pregnant women are public property!! I don't think you were out of line at all. She was creepy and you are not a walking "learning experience"!!

I would have been a bit weirded out by having a stranger do this to me!! Did she even ask permission or just touched you?? That would have been creepy!!
i think you did the right thing.
